DIY and step by step how to paint a room

Hello hive family, trust we are cool. As an interior decorator (wall painter and screeder) i promised to be sharing my idea with you guys, but due to my serried schedule, I was unable to do that. Guess what? Grab a chair, a glass of chilled juice, your snacks and relax as i explain to you what you will need to do to paint your room all by yourself

Tools and Materials needed

Tools needed varied depending on the paint and condition of the walls, but below are the necessary tools.

• Paint ( white paint for the ceilings and any color of your choice for the main wall.)

• Paint roller

• Paint roller extension pole

• Paint brushes

• Putty knife

• Rags

With this rightly available you are good to go.

First thing first, empty the room or push every content in it to the center and cover it with a nylon. Having done that turn the paint into a clean and big container and stir it thoroughly then keep it aside.

Next step is picking up your putty knife to scrape away every loose particles from the surface of the wall and yep the wall is ready for painting.

Make sure you don't forget ventilation; open all windows and doors as this will help in the drying up process.

Now that everything is set, the best strategy is working from top of the room down, paint the ceiling first before the main wall. When applying paint with the roller, use long strokes in a W pattern for a wide coverage and also to avoid roller marks. You wait for like 30 minutes before applying the second coat, once you are done clean up the tools and get it ready for the main wall painting.

When applying the main wall color, let not the roller touch the painted ceilings nor the floor, because if it does, it will put a stain on the white paint, when you are done rolling,pick up the paint brush, use it for cut-in the main color alongside the white ceilings and the floor (let the cut-in be straight). Wait for another 30 minutes before applying the second coat and do the cut-in again.

Lastly you clean up every tools you use as well as the room,(you can use water for the cleaning of the tools if the paint is either acrylic emulsion, Matt or silk), then you re-arrange the room.
