Good day for handicraft lovers ✂️📏✏️

I am so happy to resume my stay in this beautiful #hivediy community because I love crafts madly ❤️✂️ As I once said, "crafting is my way of de-stressing by creating something beautiful, wonderful and of great use". After a long time absent in this community, today I appear again to talk and show you the creative process of two objects that I made with much affection for a special double celebration: my birthday #32 and my baby Maximiliano's 8th birthday.

As a new mom, I decided to make each of my son's birth months unique and special as a reason to celebrate and portray unique moments to remember. Together with my husband we selected the Harry Potter theme 🪄✨ for my baby's month #8 and my birthday #32. I was super excited to recreate these two pieces because besides being a Harry Potter fan, my birthday is always a day that I consider very special and I have never let it go under the table. I should note that these two pieces are super easy to make, so let's get to work! ✂️📏✏️

Preparation of the cake base 🎂

• Pegamento blanco.
• Cartón reciclado.
• Lapicero.
• Tijera.
• Plato de cocina redondo de mediano tamaño.
• Papel de regalo de la temática de Harry Potter.

Materials to be used:- White glue. Cardboard recycle. Pencil. Scissors. Medium-sized round dinner plate. Harry Potter themed wrapping paper.

• Utilicé el plato de cocina redondo de 25cm de diámetro para dibujar un círculo sobre el cartón con ayuda de un lapicero.

I used the 25cm diameter round dinner plate to draw a circle on the cardboard with the help of a pencil.

• Luego, recorte el círculo de cartón con ayuda de una tijera y coloqué el papel sobre la superficie del círculo de cartón previamente untado con pegamento blanco, dejando una línea de espesor de más o menos 1cm en el papel de regalo.

Then, I cut out the cardboard circle with the help of a scissors and placed the paper on the surface of the cardboard circle previously smeared with white glue, leaving a line of thickness of about 1 cm on the wrapping paper.

• Hice pequeños cortes alrededor de la línea de espesor del papel de regalo para así poder darle forma al círculo de cartón por un lado. Luego por el otro lado, unté de pegamento nuevamente la superficie y coloqué papel de regalo para cubrir la otra cara del círculo de cartón.

I made small cuts around the line of thickness of the wrapping paper so that I could shape the cardboard circle on one side. Then on the other side, I smeared glue again on the surface and placed wrapping paper to cover the other side of the cardboard circle.

• Por último, envolví el círculo de cartón en papel emboplast o papel plástico transparente para proteger alimentos en la cocina. De esta forma ambas superficies de contacto entre la base y la tarta estarían totalmente protegidas a la hora de colocar la tarta sobre esta.

Finally, I wrapped the cardboard circle in emboplast paper or clear plastic wrap to protect food in the kitchen. This way both contact surfaces between the base and the cake would be totally protected when placing the cake on it.

Elaboration of Cake Topper

• 1 hoja de cartulina de construcción color mostaza.
• 1 hoja de cartulina de construcción color rojo.
• Imágenes alusivas a la temática de Harry Potter.
• Pegamento Blanco.
• Tijera.
• Lapicero.
• Pistola de silicon caliente.
• Cinta adhesiva.
• Palillos de altura pequeños y grandes.

Materials to be used: 1 sheet of mustard colored construction paper. 1 sheet of red construction paper. Images allusive to the theme of Harry Potter. White glue. Scissors. Pencil. Hot glue gun. Adhesive tape. Small and large toothpicks.

• Para el topper utilice un plato un poco más pequeño. Aproximadamente de 15cm de diámetro y lo fijé sobre la cartulina de color mostaza para dibujar un círculo con ayuda del lapicero. Luego utilice la tijera, lo recorté y con ayuda de otro plato de un diámetro más pequeño, recorte el centro de este círculo para formar un aro y luego lo posicioné y pegué sobre la cartulina roja.

For the topper I used a slightly smaller plate. Approximately 15cm in diameter and I fixed it on the mustard colored cardboard to draw a circle with the help of the pencil. Then using the scissors, I cut it out and with the help of another plate of a smaller diameter, I cut out the center of this circle to form a ring and then positioned and glued it on the red cardboard.

• Una vez posicionado y pegado el aro sobre la cartulina roja, corté un borde de más o menos 5mm de espesor. Luego procedí a colocar estratégicamente las imágenes previamente recortadas de la temática de Harry Potter y dibujé unos espirales y unos rayitos con ayuda del lapicero y los repasé con la pistola de silicon caliente de color plata escarchado.

Once the ring was positioned and glued on the red cardboard, I cut a border of about 5mm thick. Then I proceeded to strategically place the previously cut out images of the Harry Potter theme and drew some spirals and stripes with the help of the pencil and went over them with the hot silicon gun in silver frosting.

• Por último, coloqué dos palillos de altura largos detrás del Topper porque estaba un poco pesado y necesitaba soporte, así que los fijé con cinta adhesiva. Además, recorté las figuras de nuestros números de cumple mes y cumpleaños y las coloqué sobre un palillo pequeño para cada una respectivamente.

Lastly, I placed two long tall sticks behind the Topper because it was a bit heavy and needed support, so I attached them with tape. In addition, I cut out the figures of our birthday and birthday numbers and placed them on a small stick for each respectively.

Then I placed our cake on the base and put the topper and the numbers on it. I think it all looked very nice because it was made with love.
