Converse Chuck Taylor Shoes Wooden Carved Keychain [ENG-ESP]

Hello dear friends of Hive DIY, I hope you are all doing very well. Last week I shared with you the Air Jordan 1 keychain I made, which was very popular. As good news, I was able to sell it, and thanks to that, I was commissioned to make another one, which I'm now sharing with you. This time I've made a Converse Chuck Taylor keychain, the most classic basketball shoe. For many decades, it was the dominant model and brand in the NBA until Nike came along. Chuck Taylors are characterized by a simple design that was adapted to the players of that era, focusing on ankle protection. I made this keychain using, as always, a piece of wood. Here's a brief explanation of the process; I hope you like it.

Hola queridos amigos de Hive Diy, espero que todos se encuentren muy muy bien, la semana pasada compartí con ustedes la realización del llavero de las Air Jordan 1, las cuales gustaron mucho, y como buena noticia pude vender ese llavero, y gracias a eso me encomendaron la realización de otro mas el cual vengo a compartir con ustedes. He realizado esta vez un llavero de las Converse Chuck Taylor, el modelo más clásico del Basketball, por muchas décadas fue el modelo y la marca dominante de la NBA hasta la llegada de Nike. Las Chuck Taylor se caracterizan por un modelo sencillo que se adaptaba a los jugadores de la época, donde se buscaba proteger el tobillo. He realizado este modelo utilizando como siempre un trozo de madera, aquí les contaré brevemente como fue el proceso, espero que les guste.

PROCESS

I used a piece of wood measuring 3.5 centimeters wide by 2.5 centimeters high and 1.5 centimeters thick. I began by cleaning the wood so I could draw the outline of the Chuck Taylor. Fortunately, the design is simple to make and draw since it doesn't have many details, unlike modern shoes.

Utilicé un trozo de madera que tiene las medidas de 3,5 centímetros de ancho por 2,5 centímetros de alto y 1,5 centímetros de grosor. Comienzo a limpiar toda la madera para así poder dibujar la silueta de la Chuck Taylor, afortunadamente el diseño es sencillo de hacer y dibujar ya que no tiene muchos detalles, caso contrario de los zapatos modernos.

Once I've drawn the outline, I begin cutting the wood along all the edges, starting from the back. Using a knife with a fairly wide blade makes removing the wood easier and faster; however, you have to be careful not to damage the wood, as cutting it if it's soft would be like cutting through butter.

Una vez he realizado la silueta comienzo a cortar la madera por todos los bordes, comenzando por la parte posterior. Con una navaja que tenga la hoja un poco ancha el trabajo de retirar la madera se hace más fácil y rápido, sin embargo hay que tener cuidado de no dañar la madera, ya que si es suave sería como cortar mantequilla.

You could say the piece has four corners that need to be cut and shaped. In the previous step, we started with the back; here we continue with the top, then part of the sole, which is raised at the toe. Finally, we work on the front. This way, the base of the shoe is ready.

Se podría decir que la pieza tiene 4 esquinas que deben ser cortadas y talladas, en el paso anterior habíamos comenzado por la parte posterior, aquí seguimos entonces con la parte superior, luego con parte de la suela, que en la punta se ve levantada. Por úlltimo la parte frontal, de esta manera se podría tener lista la base del zapato.

Now, to give the shoe its shape, I start by drawing the sole, trying to make it as realistic as possible. Once I've drawn the shape of the sole, I begin carving the edges, following the outline I just drew. Here you can see the shape the Chuck Taylor shoe is gradually taking.

Ahora, para darle una forma al zapato lo que hago es dibujar la planta del zapato, la silueta tratando de llevarla a la forma más realista posible. Una vez que dibujo la forma de la suela, comienzo a tallar los bordes siguiendo el trazo antes dibujado. Aquí pueden observar la forma que va tomando poco a poco el zapato Chuck Taylor.

Next, I begin to add the smaller, more striking details, which change the volume of the piece and make it look realistic. First, I start by carving the sole, with an edge that protrudes slightly from the rest of the piece. After that, I carve the toe of the shoe and the loop where the laces go, extending upwards.

Seguidamente comienzo a hacer los detalles más pequeños y llamativos, los cuales hacen que el volumen de la peiza cmabie y se vea realista. en primer lugar comienzo tallando la suela, con un borde que sobresale un poco del resto de la pieza, despues de eso voy tallando la punta del zapato y la zonda donde van los cordondes hacia arriba.

Next, I tackled the most difficult part of all, which I discovered while recreating shoes: making the laces. The first thing I do is sketch the lace area with a pencil, and then, using a triangular-tipped gouge, I begin carving each lace individually. This must be done carefully, as the wood is very small and can easily break. After carving the laces, I smooth the entire piece with sandpaper, giving it a cleaner shape and a better appearance.

Seguidamente hice la parte más dificil de todas, que he descubierdo recreando zapatos: hacer los cordondes. Lo primero que hago es dibujar con el lápiz el espacio de los cordodes, y después con una gubía de punta triangular comienzo a tallar uno a uno toda la parte de los cordones, debe hacerse con cuidado ya que es muy pequeño y fácil puede romperse la amdera. Después de tallar los cordondes lo que hago es limpiar toda la pieza con una lija, así le voy dando una forma más límpua y que ayude a una mejor apariencia.

Now comes the finishing touches, my favorite part, since it involves painting the entire piece. First, I paint the whole figure black with matte acrylic paint. This shade will make it look more like the fabric of Chuck Taylors. Then I paint the rest of each part that's white, like the toe and the sole. To create the shoe's stitching, I make very small dots with a brush, a step that was also difficult because it needs to be very precise. Finally, I paint the laces, the Converse logo (the star), and add a metal ring to attach the chain. And that's how it's finished.

Ahora viene el acabado, mi parte favorita, ya que s etrata de la pintura que voy a poner a toda la pieza, en primer lugar pinto toda la figura de negro, con pintura acrílica mate, este tono hará que sea más parecido a la tela de las Chuck Taylor. Luego voy pintando el resto de cada parte que va de color blanco, como la punta y la suela en general, para hacer las costuras del zapato lo que hago e shacer puntos muy pequeños con el pince, paso que también fue difícil ya que se debe hacer muy preciso. Por último pinto los cordones, el sello de Converse que es la estrella, y le pongo un aro de metal para sujetar la cadena y así ha quedado finalizado.

FINAL WORK

What do you think of the result? Does it look realistic to you? Using matte black paint instead of glossy was the best decision. I made a few mistakes with the stitching because the brush sank in too deeply, and several of the stitches were too large, which I had to correct. But overall, I was able to finish the piece very well. I have to deliver it tomorrow, and the recipient hasn't seen it yet. I prefer to let them be surprised by holding it in their hands rather than seeing it in a photograph. For now, I'll say goodbye. Thank you very much for your attention. Until next time!

¿Qué les parece el resultado?¿luce realista para ustedes? utilizar pintura negra mate en lugar de la brillante fue la mejor decisición, cometí algunos errores en hacer los puntos de la costura, ya que el pincel se hundía demasiado y hubo varios que me quedaron grandes, los cuales tuve que corregir, pero por todo lo demás pude finalizar muy bien la pieza. Para el día de mañana debo entregarla, y aún la persona no ha visto como quedó, prefiero dejarlo a la sorpresa de tenerlo en sus manos que verlo en una fotografía.
