First night in the new shelter

in Hive Diy • 4 months ago

Hey there people of the Hive, hope you are doing well 🤜🤛

Today I share with you another update of the shelter I'm building here in the south of Brasil. It was a cold week the previous one and fortunately I was able to stay at a friend's house nearby but I didn't want to abuse the good will so I dedicated a day fully to the shelter and came to live there already, just when the temperature is rising again.

I'll start with a photo from the last post so you can catch up to what I last showed you:

Then I started piling up material that would eventually be used and also with the intention of making it a bit stealthier:

It was taking far too long so I decided to start working on the other side of the roof and make it much lower so that it would be quicker to get done:

As it begin to get darker I figured it was time to throw all the plastic stuff I had gathered till the moment so as to have the best night possible:

There was even a pool among the recycled plastics which makes it look more colorful. I had also picked up a few bricks which allowed me to mount a modest fireplace:

And a modest fire, mainly because it was a recommendation I was given to keep wild animals away, specially snakes:

All ready to hit the sack:

Already lying in the car seat I recycled which was incredibly comfortable:

The result was a pretty decent night though I would take off the covers at times and get quite cold, though not nearly as cold as living in the south of Chile. The other thing that would ruin my sleep during some moments was the fear of a snake would come to sleep by my side, which was something I was told happens sometimes as they seek your warmth. Anyways, I decided to trust that everything is as it must be and that my human life goes on for the time that is necessary, not more, not less.

Hope you enjoyed the post, more when there's new progress!

Thank you!

It is very scary to spend the night with cold and fear but you did it, it is a big thing.

Sure is, thanks for joining in!

I hope you are well, @fenngen. I'm worried about you being in the middle of the Brazilian jungle like this. There are many dangerous animals there. Please take care of yourself.

Thanks, I am well so far though planning on moving. Gratefully the larger animals have left me alone but the insects are hardly letting me sleep so I think I will leave for now, hopefully a place with clean water :) hope you're doing well too
