Hello lovers of diy
A beautiful Sunday to you all and I hope you had a lovely day, Sunday is mostly a resting day for me but sometimes, It's an opportunity for me to visit family and friends, while other times, I tends to some unfinished house chores from the previous day, thank God today is one of the days I get to rest after Sunday service in church which was an awesome service in the presence of God, I hope you had great time too for those that attended church service. Today I will be sharing with you with great pleasure the cutting and sewing process of a quick crafted tote bag I made for grandma for Sunday service to church.
I could remember few days ago, grandma was telling someone about her bag she takes to church which had torn and she was thinking of getting another one, unfortunately, grandma hasn't gotten another which I got to know about just yesterday, well I was thinking grandma would prefer a leather bag just as the one she had before but since she hasn't gotten another one until yesterday which was Saturday, I asked if she wouldn't mind me making one for her with fabric, guess what, she said she actually didn't want to disturb me that was why she didn't asked for it, thank God I asked, I immediately got to me sewing room to make this quick, easy and simple tote bag for her, since it was getting late and she will be needing it to church the next day as early as possible.
Let me take you through the simple cutting and sewing process of making this tote bag.
I measured and cut out a rectangular shape of 21 x 12" from a chocolate brown color fabric and same shape on lining.
For the handle, 2 pieces of 12 x 4" was cut out from the main fabric as well.
Sewing process
First was to sew the handle, it was folded in two and folded in half before sewing on both sides.
The main fabric was folded in two to locate the mid point and from the mid point, I measured 2" away where I sew the handle on both sides.
The lining was placed on it on the right side as I sew on both edges
It was then placed fabric to fabric and lining to lining as I folded 2" upward on the main fabric and on the lining.
It was sewn on both sides just as it was folded leaving an opening on one side of the lining where it can be turned inside out.
It was turned inside out through the opening and the opening was sewn on to close it.
It was turned to the right side as I top stitched round the edges, this is the final and beautiful outcome.
I am glad I was able to help out with my creativity to create a solution to the situation, grandma was able to go to church with her things well kept in the tote bag and she was so happy.
