Es el día siete y no encontraba que dibujar y no es que no tuviera ideas, es que me cuesta muchas veces decirme por una. Navegando en las hermosas aguas de Pinterest recordé una serie que me gusto muchísimo y a la cual le había hecho un dibujo, sin embargo el resultado de ese dibujo no me gustó en lo absoluto así que decidí intentarlo nuevamente con ese personaje.
La serie es original de Netflix y se llama Samurái de ojos azules ¿La viste? pues a mi me encantó, disfruté demasiado a cada uno de los personajes y el estilo de animación que usaron para crearla, además de la historia que esta 10/10. El detalle ahora era buscar una escena que me fuera atractiva para dibujar y encontré esta super sangrienta.

It's day seven and I couldn't find anything to draw and it's not that I didn't have any ideas, it's just that it's hard for me to find one. Surfing the beautiful waters of Pinterest I remembered a series that I really liked and to which I had made a drawing, however the result of that drawing I did not like at all so I decided to try again with that character.
The series is a Netflix original and is called Blue-eyed Samurai Did you see it? Well, I loved it, I really enjoyed each of the characters and the animation style they used to create it, plus the story that is 10/10. The detail now was to look for a scene that was attractive for me to draw and I found this super bloody one.
Para hacer esta escena decidí trabajar con acuarelas, eso me permitiría tener una mejor cobertura y fluidez de las formas y la verdad es que me siento muy cómoda con esta técnica. Ahora si, tomadas todas las decisiones estaba lista para comenzar.
To make this scene I decided to work with watercolors, that would allow me to have a better coverage and fluidity of the shapes and the truth is that I feel very comfortable with this technique. Now that I had made all the decisions I was ready to start.

Hace unos días cuando dibujaba a Aang robé este pequeño plato de la cocina porque mis paletas estaban muy sucias y debo decir que me encanta mezclar las acuarelas allí.

En fin, para este dibujo trabajé con unas acuarelas viejísimas que llegue a comprar mientras estudiaba en la universidad. Lo bueno de este material es que aun secos pueden ser usados solo aplicando agua. Aquí toco cortar los tubos para poder usarlos.
Anyway, for this drawing I worked with some very old watercolors that I bought while I was studying at the university. The good thing about this material is that even when dry they can be used just by applying water. Here I had to cut the tubes to be able to use them.

Voy a tratar de explicarte más o menos cual es mi proceso, así si te animas a algún día usar acuarelas puedas guiarte, okey.

Como ves, lo primero que hago es humedecer el papel, tiene que ser papel de acuarela que su gramaje es de 300 o más, estos papeles son gruesos y con textura, de todas formas es una información que te dan al momento de comprar el papel.

As you can see, the first thing I do is to moisten the paper, it has to be watercolor paper with a weight of 300 or more, these papers are thick and textured, anyway this is information that is given to you when you buy the paper.

Para hacerlo solo debes humedecer el papel y aparte hacer la mezcla de acuarela con bastante agua o por lo menos que este liquida, de esta forma cuando ponemos el pincel sobre el soporte el pigmento se expande. Me gusta trabajar de esta forma sobre todo en los fondos.
Algo clave y que me ayuda bastante para comenzar es identificar el color que domina la imagen, ves que algunas fotos tienen como más tonos azules o amarillos, a eso me refiero. En este caso en mi imagen de referencia domina el color rojo que incluso las luces se ven ligeramente rosas.

To do it you only have to moisten the paper and make the watercolor mixture with enough water or at least that it is liquid, in this way when we put the brush on the support the pigment expands. I like to work this way especially in the backgrounds.
Something key and that helps me a lot to start with is to identify the color that dominates the image, you can see that some photos have more blue or yellow tones, that's what I mean. In this case in my reference image the color red dominates and even the lights look slightly pink.

After it dried, I proceeded to make the drawing, just guide lines to help me place the colors.
Aquí comencé con unos tonos naranjas en el rostro, esto lo hago con bastante agua para obtener tonos muy claros, recuerda que la acuarela es un trabajo de paciencia por lo que hay que ir dando color capa por capa.
Here I started with some orange tones on the face, I do this with plenty of water to obtain very light tones, remember that watercolor is a work of patience so you have to give color layer by layer.
Después le dí los toques azules, importantes para las sombras en toda la figura. En este punto recibí la visita de un juez que por supuesto piensa que todo va a ir bien, eso creo.
Then I gave him the blue touches, important for the shadows all over the figure. At this point I received a visit from a judge who of course thinks that everything is going to be fine, I think.
Ahora si comenzaba con los rojos más intensos. Recuerdas la publicación de los colores complementarios, bueno aquí este rojo no lo use puro, estaba mezclado en todo momento con un toque de magenta y de verde lo que le dio otro matiz, por supuesto con bastante agua porque esta solo sería la primera capa de ese patrón de sangre.
Now I started with the most intense reds. Remember the publication of the complementary colors, well here I didn't use pure red, it was mixed throughout with a touch of magenta and green which gave it another shade, of course with plenty of water because this would only be the first layer of that blood pattern.
Aquí me doy cuenta que hay una buena parte del proceso a la que no le tome foto, sorry pero es que a veces me concentro tanto que se me olvida andar agarrando el teléfono.
Here I realize that there is a good part of the process that I didn't take a picture of, I'm sorry but sometimes I concentrate so much that I forget to grab my phone.
De todas formas lo que fui haciendo fue ir rellenando de color el resto de partes de mi figura como la vestimenta y el cabello. Si ves en la ropa hay varios matices, unas luces en amarillo y otros reflejos en azul además de una capa de rojo.
Anyway, what I was doing was filling with color the rest of the parts of my figure like the clothes and the hair. If you see in the clothes there are several shades, some lights in yellow and other reflections in blue plus a layer of red.
En este punto lo que toca es repasar las capas para poder intensificar los colores. También hacer detalles como los ojos. El patrón de sangre era algo que cambiaba por capas porque se podía notar una principal bastante roja y otra de fondo un poco más clara y con tintes naranjas.
At this point it is time to go over the layers to intensify the colors. Also to make details like the eyes. The blood pattern was something that changed by layers because you could notice a main one quite red and another one in the background a little lighter and with orange tints.
Aquí se me presentaba un asunto con el fondo porque este es super oscuro, casi negro, entonces lo que hice fue hacer una mezcla de amarillo rojo y azul buscando ese tono oscuro. Este proceso me estaba costando bastante hasta que llegué y a la mezcla le añadí un toque de negro, porque como ya te he dicho, a veces la paciencia no me acompaña.
Here I had an issue with the background because it is super dark, almost black, so what I did was to make a mixture of yellow red and blue looking for that dark tone. This process was costing me a lot until I got there and I added a touch of black to the mixture, because as I said, sometimes patience is not with me.
Bueno hasta aquí llegamos con este dibujo, la verdad que estoy muy contenta con el resultado porque como te dije antes me encanta la serie, me encanta el personaje y me encanta aún más haber logrado hacerlo.
