PRESS FLOWERS USING BOOKS! / ¡PRENSA FLORES USANDO LIBROS! [ENG/ESP]

Hello everyone!
It's not a secret that spring has come, and I'm so in love with this season that it reminds me how beatiful world is and how colourful the nature is.
As I was walking to go work only I could see flowers around me and I got some memories back from my childhood on the house I used to spend summers in. I remembered how I used to pick up flowers I saw on our garden just to give them to my grandmother as a present.

As my grandmother is not here anymore... but I wanted to pick up some flowers I thought about how I could use them to give some ideas to the community about preserving them long term.
So, I decided to press them using old book I had at home that I think nobody in my family has ever read 😅 (Jokes out, make sure that you use books you don't mind to damage as flowers can stain the pages).

On this post I'll show you the flowers I picked and how EASY it is to press them and use them for your DIYs.
On my next post I'll show you a DIY I did for St. George's day as in Catalonia (where I live) it's a huge celebration that we feel as it's our St. Valentine's Day. (Not saying you should follow me but would be really really appreciated 😉😉).

No es un secreto que ha llegado la primavera, y estoy tan enamorada de esta estación que me recuerda lo hermoso que es el mundo y lo colorida que es la naturaleza.
Mientras caminaba para ir a trabajar, solo podía ver flores a mi alrededor y recuperé algunos recuerdos de mi infancia en la casa en la que solía pasar los veranos. Recordé cómo solía recoger las flores que veía en nuestro jardín solo para dar a mi abuela como regalo.

Como mi abuela ya no está... pero quería recoger algunas flores, pensé en cómo podría usarlas para dar algunas ideas a la comunidad sobre cómo preservarlas a largo plazo.
Entonces, decidí prensarlos usando un libro viejo que tenía en casa que creo que nadie en mi familia ha leído nunca 😅 (Bromas aparte, asegúrate de usar libros que no te importe dañar ya que las flores pueden manchar las páginas).

En esta publicación, les mostraré las flores que escogí y lo FÁCIL que es presionarlas y usarlas para sus manualidades.
En mi próximo post os enseño un DIY que hice para el día de San Jorge ya que en Cataluña (donde vivo) es una gran celebración que sentimos como si fuera nuestro San Valentín. (No digo que debas seguirme, pero sería realmente muy apreciado y te gustará ver mis próximos posts 😉😉).

Those are some of the flowers I picked up. I couldn't put them all in the pictures, there were too many hahaha.
At this time I cleaned them a bit from sand and cut them in different sizes before puting them on the books.

Esas son algunas de las flores que recogí. No podía ponerlas a todas en las fotos, eran demasiadas jajaja.
En este momento los limpié un poco de arena y los corté en diferentes tamaños antes de ponerlos en los libros.

I filled a little bag with flowers and leaves too, it came to a point that I filled 5 books and I was exhausted because my 3 cats decided it was time to see what I was doing all the time geting up on the table and trying to steal my flowers so basicaly it was all time running after them and protecting flowers at all cost 😂

Llené una bolsita con flores y hojas también, llegué a un punto que llené 5 libros y estaba exhausta porque mis 3 gatos decidieron que era hora de ver lo que estaba haciendo todo el tiempo subiéndose a la mesa y tratando de robar mis flores, así que básicamente era todo el tiempo correr tras ellas y proteger las flores a toda costa 😂

This is how I settle them down. Make sure to leave a space between them to aboid sticking one to each other. At the moment of passing pages to put the next bach of flowers leave like 0'5cm of pages so that humidity from the last bunch doesn't arrive to the new one.
And basically that's it. Clean and cut the flowers, put them between pages, put weight on top to press (I used more books) and leave them for at least a month to make sure they are dry and pressed.

You can do this with almost any kind of flowers, leaves or even just the petals. So if someone ever gifts you flowers or you have a special moment in life you would like to preserve forever this is one of the ways and you can do so many ideas with it, like bookmarks, wood decored boxes, paintings and colage pictures...

On my next post I'll show a DIY that I did with this flowers of the post, and as I got so many I'll have flowers for my crafts till next spring haha.

Así los acomodé. Asegúrate de dejar un espacio entre ellos para evitar que se peguen entre sí. En el momento de pasar páginas para poner el siguiente lote de flores dejar como 0'5cm de páginas para que no llegue humedad del último ramo al nuevo. Y básicamente eso es todo. 
Limpie y corte las flores, póngalas entre páginas, ponga peso encima para prensar (usé más libros) y déjelas por lo menos un mes para asegurarse de que estén secas y prensadas.

Puedes hacer esto con casi cualquier tipo de flores, hojas o incluso solo con los pétalos. Entonces, si alguien alguna vez te regala flores o tienes un momento especial en la vida que te gustaría conservar para siempre, esta es una de las formas y puedes hacer muchas ideas con él, como marcadores, cajas decoradas con madera, pinturas y collages...

En mi próximo post mostraré un DIY que hice con estas flores del post, y como tengo tantas tendré flores para mis manualidades hasta la próxima primavera jaja.
