As you surround yourself with people who are enterprising and eager to work and do everything to contribute to the welfare of the family and the community, you also begin to have new and pleasant experiences.

That happened to me at the beginning of the week, when my brother-in-law, @edwar.master invited me to his house to give him some ideas on how to take care of his herd of pigs, which, by the way, are of very good breed and look very good.

He told me that he has 4 pregnant sows and a 5th lactating sow. In view of the fact that these animals are very rough and do not take the necessary care with the small offspring at the time of resting and lying on the floor, it is necessary, on the part of the barn, to make them some kind of device that forces her to do it with more care, to avoid that every time she lies on the floor she hurts, hits or even imprisons the offspring, which could cause their death.

After doing some research, we saw some ideas on the Web, and finally we chose the option based on the material facilities we had at home to reduce the manufacturing costs.

Thank God that, in my case, I had the opportunity to learn the art of blacksmithing and welding, which helped me to be able to contribute in a good way to this cause.

We decided to manufacture what farmers who work with pigs call a maternal cage for sows, which consists of equipment designed so that both the mother sow and the piglets can be comfortable, protected and well cared for.

Despite having few tools (a blind, a domestic welder, a hammer, a small plastic square, a tape measure and a pencil), we were able to improvise some (a 3/4" pipe bender made by me, but that I had never used), and also implement some ideas when making the joints and cuts because we did not have an electric cutter (45° cuts and the famous 'frog mouth' cut, in round pipes).

The first thing we did was to select the materials.
We gathered 10 pieces of galvanized metal pipe, 3/4" in diameter, the kind used to embed electricity in the walls.

Then we went to the site where the maternal farm will operate and took measurements of the animals.

Then we started a small plan, or rather, a sketch to have a clearer idea.

We made a study of the mechanism that would contribute to the sense of the equipment, which consists of two folding or retractable rails or grids, which in this case will be the device that will force the sow to go down carefully, sliding their backs by these flaps that will avoid mistreating the piglets. And these same bars have to contract when the sow tries to get up so that she is not prevented from doing so.

The truth is that even I myself was surprised with this idea, since at other times I had heard from other pig farmers that they had lost many piglets because they did not have this technology.

It is at this moment where the manufacture begins, and to be honest, with some doubts about its proper functioning.

Finally the first cuts of tubes were made, and we gave utility to a tool that I had manufactured at some point, but had not used. It was the improvisation of a 3/4" tube bender. After a few tweaks and adjustments .... It worked.

To top it off, the fabricator gets inspired just like a painter or a musician when looking for the muse and inspiration. The ideas began to flow, to the point of not making some tools indispensable.

The cuts were just a matter of a small groove and a double on an edge..... That's it.

And everything begins to take shape and my brother-in-law begins to change the worried face he had before.

By this time we have something like this in advance.

And the nicest thing that can be presented to any creator of any design or thing, are the good words of people who, out of curiosity, come up to you and say something like: "It's looking better than the one we saw on the internet".

That kind of encouragement is like the high-octane gasoline that gets a single-seater formula one engine revving.

We really enjoyed this project, and some family members commented that there is no supplier of this equipment in the area, which makes it very expensive for medium-sized producers because it can only be imported. With this they tried to motivate me to organize a workshop for the construction of this type of accessories, equipment and even tools dedicated to the care of farm animals, and the truth is that I thought it was a very good idea.

All this inspired me this phrase: "A minor project is the propelling engine of a major project" because I have been thinking about it seriously and asking God. We will see.

During the whole process, I saw it necessary to save the photographic material of the process to share it with you. I don't know if many of you are in need of this equipment and to see how simple they are.

Un gusto saludarles a todos, y una calurosa bienvenida a los miles de nuevos miembros de esta comunidad tan agradable. Esperamos que su estadía en @Hive.blog sea la experiencia más maravillosa que hayan podido tener en sus vidas, y es que estamos muy seguros de que será así.

A medida que uno se rodea de personas emprendedoras, y con muchos deseos de trabajar y de hacer todo para contribuir con el bienestar de la familia y de la comunidad, uno también empieza a tener nuevas y agradables experiencias.

Eso me ocurrió este inicio de semana, cuando mi cuñado, @edwar.master me invitó a su casa para que le diera ciertas ideas para atender los cuidados de su rebaño de cerdos que, por cierto son de muy buena raza y tienen muy buen aspecto.

Me comentó que tiene 4 cerdas gestantes y una 5ta amamantando. En vista de que estos animales son muy rudos y no tienen los cuidados necesarios con las pequeñas crias a la hora de descansar y echarse al suelo, es necesario, de parte del granero, fabricarles algún tipo de dispositivo que la obligue a hacerlo con más cuidados, para evitar que cada vez que ella se tire al piso hiera, golpee o hasta aprisione a las crías, lo que podría provocarles la muerte.

Luego de investigar un poco, vimos algunas ideas en la Web, y por último elegimos la opción basándonos en las facilidades de materiales que teníamos en casa para abaratar los costos de fabricación.

Gracias a Dios que, en mi caso, tuve la oportunidad de aprender el arte de la herrería y soldadura, lo que me ayudó a poder contribuir de buena manera a esta causa.

Decidimos fabricar lo que los granjeros que trabajan con cerdos llaman una jaula maternal para cerdas, que consta de un equipo diseñado de manera que, tanto la cerda madre como los lechoncitos puedan estar cómodos, protegidos y bien atendidos.

A pesar de contar con pocas herramientas (una ceguera, una soldadora doméstica, un martillo, una pequeña escuadra plástica, uns cinta métrica y un lápiz), pudimos improvisar algunas (un dobla tubos de 3/4" hecho por mi, pero que nunca había usado), también implementar algunas ideas a la hora de realizar las juntas y los cortes por no tener una cortadora electrica (cortes en 45° y el famoso corte 'boca de sapo', en tubos redondos).

Lo primero que hicimos fue seleccionar los materiales.
Juntamos 10 pedazos de tubo metálico galvanizado, de 3/4" de diámetro, del que se utiliza para empotrar la electricidad por las paredes.

Luego fuimos al sitio donde va a funcionar la granja materna y tomamos medidas de los animales.

Posteriormente iniciamos un pequeño plano, o más bien, un boceto para tener la idea más clara.

Realizamos un estudio del mecanismo que contribuiría al sentido del equipo, que consta de dos barandas o rejas plegables o retractiles, que en este caso será el dispositivo que obligará a la cerda a bajar con cuidado, deslizando sus lomos por estos alerones que evitará maltratar a los lechones. Y estás mismas rejas tienen que contraerse cuando la cerda intenté levantarse para que no se lo impidan.

La verdad es que hasta yo mismo quedé sorprendido con esta idea, ya que en otros momentos había escuchado a otros porcicultores (así de les llama a los granjeros de cerdos) que habían perdido a muchas crias por no contar con esta tecnología.

Es en este momento donde inicia la fabricación, y siendo sincero, con algo de dudas sobre su buen funcionamiento.

Por fin salieron los primeros cortes de tubos, y le dimos utilidad a una herramienta que en algún momento fabrique, pero no había utilizado. Fue la improvisación de un doblador de tubos de 3/4". Luego de algunos retoques y ajustes.... Funcionó.

Por si fuera poco, el fabricador se inspira tal como un pintos o un músico cuando busca la musa y su inspiración. Empiezan a fluir las ideas, hasta el punto de no convertir en indispensable algunas herramientas.

Los cortes fueron solo cosa de una pequeña ranura y un dobles en un borde.... Listo.

Y comienza todo a agarrar forma y mu cuñado a cambiarle el rostro de preocupación que antes tenía.

Para este momento tenemos algo así adelantado.

Y lo más agradable que se le puede presentar a cualquier creador de cualquier diseño o cosa, son las buenas palabras de las personas que, por curiosidad, se acercan y te dicen algo como: "Está quedando mejor que la que vimos en internet".

Ese tipo de ánimo es como la gasolina de alto octanaje que pone a acelerar un motor de un monoplaza de fórmula uno.

En realidad disfrutamos mucho este proyecto, y algunos familiares comentaron de que en la zona no existe ningún proveedor de estos equipos, lo que los torna muy caro para los medianos productores porque solo pueden ser importados.

Con esto trataron de motivarme a organizar un taller para la construcción de este tipo de accesorios, equipos y hasta herramientas dedicadas a los cuidados de la animales de granja, y la verdad que me pareció muy buena idea.

Todo esto me inspiró está frase: "Un proyecto menor es el motor propulsor de un proyecto mayor" porque lo he estado pensando en serio y pidiendole a Dios. Veremos.

Durante todo el proceso, ví necesario guardar el material fotográfico del proceso para compartirlo con ustedes. No sé sabe si muchos de ustedes tienen necesidad de este equipo y que vean lo sencillo que son.
