Leaving Suriname

in Suriname Hive3 years ago

I recently made a list of things I want to accomplish in the next 4 years, one of them was to study abroad. I was asked why I want to study abroad. Well...honestly I want to make a foundation for myself while I have little to lose. I'm from Suriname and it's not exactly the greatest place for a kid like me to think long term, cuz of things like the unstable economy, troubles with politics and what not.

I'm a business student and I know that an MBA is progressively seeming like a redundant degree to many modern businesses because of the influx of MBA'rs in the workforce. Even still I was told by my superior at my previous internship company, that studying somewhere other than Suriname was the best thing he ever did for his own development. He went to study in Brazil not knowing the language or culture, but came back with several high profile job opportunities and amazing stories to tell.

I don't exactly have the money to do this, but if I did I'd like to study in England, with a focus on advertising. I do in fact want to be an ad man and eventually run my own business.

The collage I made show's a few of the friends I'll very sadly have to leave behind along with who I want to become and where I want to go.

I started this post by saying that I have little to lose from Suriname, but I'd be lying if I said that I wouldn't miss my friends and family. They're all incredible people that I'd hate to leave behind, but as one of my quote posts said, "people who can't throw something important away can never hope to change anything."

(No, I don't want to throw them away, It's just an expression XD)
