Quarantine, travel bans, mutation of COVID-19, and other more restrictions have made the tourism industry suffer and any other related to tourism such as transportation. Still trips into the interior of Suriname have not been tampered with.
We still love to go TapC as we locally call the highlands of the districts Para, Brokopondo, and Sipaliwini. In these districts, we have a lot of resorts and retreats, where people can relax - just take the time off from the "Covid Stress"
I have been tripping around too in and around TapC, for relaxation time. The closest was at least 45 min driving south from Paramaribo while the farthest was 3 and half hours in the hills and mountains. I will drop some photos below.

But there was one trip, which was more about the conservation of nature there than for fun. This trip was to Braamspunt, a peninsula at the coast. This place is famed for being the birthplace of the leatherback sea turtle and other smaller sea turtles but is also still being raided by poachers, who empty the nest of eggs to sell them.

Alright, we went there as a cleaning party to pick trash and clean as much as possible of the peninsula. It was a bittersweet ending for me. As we picked up at least 125+ of 60liter bags of trash, We had to leave a certain amount of trash because could not add it in the boat because of the size or the weight.
But I had fun though - As I explored, picked up litter, and found even interesting forms of trash (see pictures below). I am hopeful that we keep going back and clean up and bring awareness about poaching and about pollution.

Well, that was my story. What are your travel stories these days? What trips do you like/ love?
See the lovely pictures below.

Grantangi for reading.

Wait... the beach hut is gone?

There was a hut? There was two store tower and a 'jachtopziener' place.

The mermaids sign belonged to a hut close to the sea.

Hmmm then it is no longer there then
