I used SketchUp to design and build a 400 square foot house on a slab. The trailer options I looked at were more expensive and with the added difficulty of load balancing and securing the house for transport. If you are not traveling frequently, it may be less costly to build on skids or pier and beam, then pull the house onto a flatbed truck to move it.

I'm totally with you. Designing a house for myself, I would not even think about moving it, but build it into the hillside or berm it up Earthship style. For mobility I would much rather prefer a van, or better yet, a bicycle with tenting gear. But for internalizing the use of SketchUp, I think this is a good exercise.
