Who is Potato // Quíén es Potato

Here I am again sharing my project, I hope you like it, I made it with a lot of love.

A tidbit about me 😝 😜

Last week I took a break because I had a muscle contracture in my right shoulder, specifically in the trapezius, which caused pain in my shoulder, in my neck, upper back, head and even my cheekbone on the right side hurt. At one point I was so scared that I thought something was wrong with my spine.

2.jpg

So I ended up head first in an orthopedic surgeon's office. The doctor who saw me is a lovely gentleman in his late 80's, far removed from technology but with a wealth of experience. He examined me so thoroughly that I felt strange (nowadays doctors are not like that), he even took out skeletons and bones from his closet and explained to me what was happening to me 🤣 🤣 I felt like I was in an anatomy class!

3.jpg

He gave me advice on sitting, sleeping, lifting, and pain relief therapies. He sent me home, with the conviction that my spine is functioning properly. Before leaving the office he injected me with a muscle relaxant and within minutes the tension in my shoulder was gone, so I'm happy, my shoulder and neck don't hurt.

@ayleenr's daughter with a bunny I knitted for her when she was sick
.

The project of the week - Who is Potato 🐭 🐭

I'm featuring it this week, but truth be told, this project started almost a month ago when @ayleenr asked me to knit "Potato" for her little daughter and immediately sent me a picture of the doll in question.

The first thing I asked myself was who is "Potato", @ayleenr explained to me that it is a character from a cartoon called "Chip and Potato" that her daughter likes a lot.

4.jpg

With this information I started my internet browsing, finding out about the characters. I discovered that "Chip and Potato" is a series of Canadian origin and transmitted by Netflix. Its transmission began in 2018, so it is relatively new. The dubbing for Latin America was done in Mexico.

The cartoon is about the adventures of Chip a little dog, who is going to start her classes in kindergarten, so she prepares to make new friends, learn new things and live the experience of going to classes.

5.jpg

But she doesn't go alone, she is accompanied on her adventures by her secret friend, a little mouse named "Potato". When she doesn't want to be seen, Chip asks Potato to hide in a pink blanket, apparently Potato is a secret.

6.jpg

Procedure. Potato 🐭 🐭

To make Potato use half stitches and cotton yarn in white, yellow, pink and light pink, light blue and dark blue. Anti-allergic stuffing, black plastic buttons, plastic for the ears and wool needle.

I'm not going to give details of the pattern, because I didn't write it down, but I tell you that as always I started with the legs always making spiral increases, in the second round I changed to yellow and made the legs. I made two. I joined them together and continued knitting with yellow until I reached the desired height.

7.jpg

Then I changed to pink and made the shape of Potato's thorax. In trial and error I made the shape of the sweater and the shape of the sweatshirt in the back. I knitted the arms starting with white for the hands and then changed to pink until I reached the desired size.

8.jpg

I made the head in the shape of a ball of the same size as the body, because when you see the cartoon you can see that Potato is big-headed. Then I knitted the ears and on the advice of @charsdesign I put plastic inside them to keep them stiff.

9.jpg

I knitted two overlapping hearts in pink and pale pink, for the ears. I also knitted two hearts in dark blue and light blue for the sweater and cover detail.

10.jpg

Potato is a little mouse, so you can't miss the tail which I knitted in a slightly darker pink. She has a hair detail on her head, a shape I achieved by knitting three rows of half stitches of different sizes, and in the last three chains I knitted two increases in each one, to give the curled shape.

11.jpg

I joined the pieces with cotton thread and wool needle. I embroidered the eyebrows and mouth with black thread and used pink thread for the nose. As for the eyes, they are black plastic buttons. Initially I tried to melt the plastic and glue them on, but I didn't succeed so I finally glued them on with silicone.

The Coverlet 🛏 🛏

I knitted it in two colors, pale pink and a darker pink. The truth is that the blanket is pale pink, but I didn't have enough yarn of that color. I knitted the whole thing in garter stitch and shaped it like a sleeping bag. I knitted two ears on the top and with the help of white yarn I knitted the shape of the arms.

That's all for this week.

If you made it this far thank you so much for reading, I really appreciate it!

Let’s start with the health… and lets whine together 😭 I so feel you on the shoulder/neck pain!!! And I am so glad you found this amazing doctor who could help you. Not all doctors are such good listeners. I hope your shoulder will stay painfree for a loooooooong time (I understand you so good, as I have hurt my collarbone years ago and now I have pain in my shoulder which Gelens together with the headaches 🤮)
And with the amigurumi you again outdid yourself: so cute!!! The big ears with the hearts and the blanket, all is so detailed and really looks like the serial. I never heard of this show, but a mouse which is named potato and a tiny dog: cuuuuutttte. (I think you really need Netflix soon :-D )

It is a shame to know that you had a clavicle injury and now you suffer from neck pain and the headache is the worst, one does not know what it is and of course it is scary!!!! I hope you are in treatment and have a good doctor. The truth is that I was lucky with the doctor who treated me, he was a professional.

Thanks for Potato. I tried to put as much detail as possible. I was thinking of embroidering the tongue and mouth, but I didn't dare... maybe another time.

hahaha it's true I will need to have netflix, but where I live such a bad internet signal that it's not worth hiring the netflix service .

Sigh, bad internet is sooooooooo annoying. Here it is mostly good, only sometimes when the weather is super wet or stormy we have problems, because seine of the cables hang precariously in front of the house. THe landlord should repair it but does not want, because of the money… Hope you will sometimes get a better internet signal <3

ANd with the face of potato, I think its perfect, no more embroidery needed.

THe clavicle problems are not really treatable, only the pain which they cause in the muscles, but health insurance does not pay to work on this constantly 🤢

Hello @neumannsalva , hope you can fix the cables, bad internet is really a problem to us hivers.

Omg your clavicle problem don't have treatment, so i understand you need phisytherapy, sorry i don't sure if i wrote correctly, but you need exercise to your muscles and insurance don't pay for it? That is bad, because they are expensive!

Do you have tried to do yoga? İt's a good exercise to our muscles!

Te quedó precioso...me alegra que estés mejor.

Gracias por tus lindas palabras!!! Si, estoy mejor, ahora a tejer otra vez!!!!

Hope your spine is better now. You did a good job with potato. Hope @ayleenr daughter loves it
