My new project with alpaca yarn

in NeedleWorkMonday3 years ago

Good Monday to all our creative community!!! I hope this week has been productive for you and that you are doing well!
My first knitted alpaca hat is finished! 😃

As you can see, I haven't made pom poms or tassels yet. Maybe I'll leave the hat as it is for now. It seems to me that the pom-pom is not suitable for this model. I really liked this yarn. I knitted this hat in two strands thick. I wanted to see what kind of fabric it would be if knitted in one thread.

I knitted a trial piece of fabric. I liked it and I decided to knit a second hat but without white yarn.

I made all the necessary measurements and calculations, but unfortunately the hat came out too wide. So I had to unravel it and knit again with fewer stitches.

After knitting the elastic, I made an increase for every 10 loops. I want to knit the simplest model so that it is convenient to take this hat with me, for example, in my pocket when you go somewhere or play sports. As you can see, I knit the simplest garter knitting.

I like how this yarn looks in the canvas. It's beautiful on its own and I don't think any special knitting pattern is needed. That's why I chose garter knitting. This yarn is a pleasure to work with!
In parallel, I continue to crochet a headband.

As I already wrote, I'm not in a hurry with this. I crochet when I watch or listen to something. My work is gradually moving forward.

The bandage looks very nice. I like it! 😃

Alpaca is such an interesting fiber to work with then sheep's wool. I love the softness of it and it is surprisingly heavy in weight. It seems like a perfect hat fiber because it is so soft. What I have learned from knitting hats for others is that the fiber does not have the elasticity like sheep's wool, so it stretches out a bit and does not bounce back. Unfortunately, the hats stay a little larger than I would like so in the future I will knit the hats a little smaller to see if the fit better over time.

Lovely hat BTW @tali72! I usually make things for others, and my goal has been lately to make items for myself. Take care and be well!

you are completely right! I also noticed this when knitting an elastic band for a hat that I am knitting now. this yarn really has no elasticity. but she's very nice and soft to work with.

I also agree that this model does not need a pompom because it already looks good with these design. And it's great that you do the projects simultaneously and calmly, nothing better than enjoying what we do without rushing ❤️.

thank you my dear! you are right about everything! I love pom poms and the like but don't want to make the hat look too heavy

I love the hat as it is, I would not add a Pompom. The model is so cute on you with the stripes and folds, it really suits you (you look a bit like a Wintersports model 😍)
And the yarn is really nice, I am glad you found this shop. I hope you will make a sweater or a sweater vest someday with this beautiful yarn.

I am amazed at your ability to guess my ideas, my dear!!!!!! 😮 I really want to knit vests with this yarn. Thank you for your feedback on the hat. so I'll definitely leave it as it is without any hesitation 🌹🌹🌹 to be honest, I don’t like this photo of me in a hat at all: the hat looks great, unlike me 🙈 my husband and I went out for a walk in the air not far from home and I was completely without makeup. I wanted to take another photo in a hat but I rarely use makeup now 😐

Wow beautiful thank for sharing @tali72
