I learn to sew with patterns

in NeedleWorkMonday3 years ago

Good Monday to all our creative community!!! I hope this week has been productive for you and that you are doing well!
For me, the most difficult thing is to start sewing according to patterns. Intellectually, I understand that it is not difficult, it just takes practice, but I still feel very hesitant to start. I already said that I finally made patterns for the summer top for the master class on the Internet. To try to sew this top, I found with old shirts that I don’t mind ruining.

This is what the shirt looks like after cutting off the collar, cuffs and button trims. Now I need to cut out the front of the top. I am ahead of a lot of indecision so I use not only the pattern but also my shirt, which fits me in size, to compare.

Armholes match!

Now we need to cut it on the other side.

Since I cut off the upper part of the back because of the collar, the front part turned out to be longer than the back. I need to cut off the extra length.

I'm trying to connect all the parts with pins.

Since I cut off the button strips, the front does not match the back in width. I knew this. I have leftovers from the sleeves.

I want to use this piece of fabric for the front insert. Roughly it should look like this:

To continue the work, first I need to sew the main parts on a sewing machine. But I will not do this today: my courage has already dried up 🙈😶

Take care of yourself and be healthy!

I nearly forgot that you self drafted a pattern. So good you took it out again and tried it with the old blouse. I am looking forward how this will turn out. Pattern sewing is such a good skill (I still am learning too, especially to get the shoulders right, not easy)

you encourage me by your example, my dear! I still have to force myself up to keep sewing this. this is a real challenge for me, unlike knitting and crocheting. Take care of yourself!!!!

Oh dear I like the part that you are really trying.. With much practice you will get use to using patterns because they really give you more perfect fit when you use pattern..
Please don't let your courage dry out 😂😆😄...

😁😁😁 I have big problems with courage! 😁😁😁 thanks for the approval! I will try to overcome my insecurities and fears 😀
