My Crochet Journey: From Scraps🧶 to Whole

in NeedleWorkMonday4 months ago

Hivers, hi! How are you? I trust that you are all fine. Anyhow, I’m pleased to have finally composed this blog and tell you about a hobby I engage in for enjoyment, which sort of saved my life the last couple of years.

I started to crochet during the time of the Pandemic. Maybe I was just bored and wanted to learn something new. Or maybe, because I did not want to waste all my time, instead turned it into a good use doing my skill of turning a ball of yarn into a beautiful piece.

This bucket hat was my first success in crochet, which I'm forever proud of. It took me almost a month of tutorials to finish it. I had to improvise on the string part, to prevent the hat from flying away in windy areas.

It was a disaster, my first try. I followed and watched many YouTube tutorials and I had to take a break for a month and nearly gave up. But surprisingly, when I returned and tried it again (so I would not waste all the yarn I bought), it felt natural. It’s like I already knew what to do.

Apart from that, I’ve also learned a lot of patterns and have had an idea of what to do and learn next. One of them is this tulip flower crochet. This was popular at that moment, so I had to hop on. And as it turns out, it was a big help when the school resumed.

During the face-to-face classes, I was selling and marketing around the campus and even on social media my flower crochet small business. Seeing my fellow students pursue each other, I decided to meddle in and bluff them things that would make them buy. It was a good start for a small business for students like me (although, I think the sales are seasonal). It taught me how hard it is to earn money, and taught me to value them more.

I made these as a thank-you gift to my friends, who were very supportive of me throughout my journey in the small crochet business. It’s a tulip coin pouch. One unique thing I love about this is that the tulip flower can be used as a small coin pouch.

I stopped crocheting for a while, but I resumed again when I bought chunky yarns. This time, I made keychains. This was supposed to be an octopus keychain, but it turned out to be more like a small bucket hat. Anyway, it still turned out cute. The other one is a ribbon, which turned out exactly how it should look like.

A loyal customer bought these and gave them to her lover. It is such a cute couple keychain, especially the blush part.

However, when the school year ended, I also stopped my crochet small business since I plan to focus more on my studies in the upcoming school year.

My journey in crochet has been great. Learning this has been advantageous for me. Not only has this hobby made me earn money, but it has also become something I do to ease and fix or build up my mind.

Thank you for reading my blog, everyone! I hope you enjoyed it. See you in my next one👋

I wish I have the skill like that haha. I also like to build my own hat and use it outside when the weather is cold

You should try it! It's definitely worth it, especially when you see the outcome of your hard work.
