Hello Hive
I can't seem to point out a single person who isn't excited about Christmas. Even though it is a yearly event, each new Christmas comes with a special feeling. We are always full of joy, happiness, and laughter in this season. Regardless of everything that may have happened throughout the years, the Christmas season always brings good tidings, and the subsequent new year is often seen as a new beginning.
The joy of Christmas is often widespread, and practically nobody is exempted. The children are often excited about the gifts that will be going round, and children from here are particularly excited about getting new clothes.
Children must wear their best clothes, and, para-venture, they haven't gotten any new clothes throughout the year; at Christmas there is always that hope of new clothes.
These children have now gotten used to the custom of wearing complete new outfits for Christmas. New clothes, new shoes, funny eyeglasses/shades, plus the plastic wristwatches here that never tell the time.
It is part of the fun and what makes children around here happy.
For this year, inflation has challenged our finances, and it's almost impossible to purchase new clothes for the children. I was hoping to purchase some fabrics and sew for them, but a health emergency came up and has eaten up a good portion of my savings; after all, it is better to save a life instead.
The children are not too happy about not getting new clothes, but I actually had my plans; even if it were something simple, I will make sure to sew them new clothes.
I have got this African print fabric from last year and decided to share the 3 yards among my girls.
For my little girl, I have guessed her measurements and cut the fabric, both front and back pieces.
Then the lower block
Not knowing that my baby has grown so fast, what I had intended to sew as a long dress for her turned to stop at her knees.
I have assumed a 24-inch height I have often used for her in the past.
Only to be surprised that she is now 34"tall. I had to quickly turn the dress into a short one.
Some sewing here and there while she stuck around with me through the entire process and screamed that Aunty is sewing her Christmas dress until she eventually slept off
She doesn't know the difference between a really expensive dress and this one. Being happy and knowing that she has something new for Christmas is all that matters.
I kept smiling that at least some sewing skills have saved the day rather than us looking for money to sew their clothes with a tailor; even if it is something as simple as this, the tailor will still take some money from us.
For now Tina has something simple to wear, and if a miracle happens before Christmas, I can purchase more fabrics and sew some quality and better outfits for them.
A little ironing and finishing of this perfect my baby's dress.
So pretty dress!
Thank you βΊοΈ
This is such a heartwarming story. Your dedication to creating something special for your children despite the challenges is truly inspiring. The dress came out beautifully, and your sewing skills are commendable. Merry Christmas celebration
That's a beautiful dress for Tina, it's obvious she loves the outfit in her happy mood, thanks to big aunt for making this lovely dress for Tina.
