Do you know this special feeling you often get when someone around you is expecting a baby. It is a special time and moment, everyone wants to take care of the fragile mother to be, Everything about her must be made comfortable, satisfying the food cravings, mood swings and even outfits. There are special type of outfits they must wear, something not too tight around their belly and even bust.

Nevertheless their outfits must be fashionable too. A friend and neighbors is expecting her second child. There is a naming ceremony also slated for this weekend she wants to attend the occasion to greet the new parents so that her faith can be also lifted as he waits in hope for her own delivery day.

I thought of how comfortable to make her outfits and also fashionable.
She doesn't want the regular A-line outfits so I have to give this a good thought.

Also aside wanting her dress to be free she equally desired than to be free around her bust area as her bust keeps getting bigger by the day. if she measures 36" around the bust this week, this increases by 1-3" monthly.
Due to the comfort desired for the bust I decided to sew yoke above the bust as the styline.

Then made some pleats in the bust.

This created some fitting at the chest line and a free flow of pleats from the bust down, this will contain the ever increasing bust measurements.

Since it is an already free dress, having a zipper at the back might disfigure the dress, it isn't looking nice from what I imagined.
A loop and button will be better which I had created so that she can wear the dress with ease.
This is my first time making a maternity outfits for an expectant mother, what do you think of the dress. This one was really simple to sew and looks fashionable, what do you think?

Thanks for stopping by.

Wow I really like how you made it stylish yet you also made it comfortable
This looks pretty and I think even other people who aren’t pregnant would want to wear this.

Well I can actually wear this too but I will adjust the wideness reducing the pleats, can't wear anything this big.
Thanks for the kind words dear.

Oh okay
Then I’ll do one
You’re welcome

I would love to wear this kind of maternity dress if I were your pregnant neighbor. It would be very comfortable, and I could wear it with ease. I also like the prints on the fabric. Job well done, @monica-ene. 😊

Your neighbor is so lucky to have you, omg this dress will really fit her with her pregnancy, I always seen pregnancy women wearing this beautiful style, they even used this style on a choir uniform with white under, this is a beautiful style I like it, thanks for sharing
