I love trying things from different cultures as well. It really helps you understand and apricate different lives so much more. I've always been fascinated how varied knitting can be and how different it can be from different countries.

I agree. There are infinite possible combinations of knits and purls--always something new to learn! !BEER
I love teaching my friends and once they learn knit and purl I always stress that they now know everything they need to do (almost) every knitting pattern out there. They are just all different combinations of knit and purl. My friends are always amazed by that but get so excited once the knitting world of patterns open up to them.
