I'm super excited to share news that me and many other knitters are going for a world record attempt to knit the largest blanket ever! This was all started by Elsie Stanbury on a facebook group. She's calling out for all knitters to knit and donate sets of 9 squares to be sewn up into sections that will eventually all be joined together.
I'm really proud to say I have made 18 squares so far and I'm still going. It's been fantastic to use up yarn and just relax with some simple knitting.
We are always looking for more knitters to join us, no requirements if you can knit you can take part. All you have to do is knit an 8inch by 8inch square whatever design you like, make 9 sew them into a square and send them to Elsie. All these sets are being sewn into blankets and then all attached together to make the super duper blanket that will beat the world record. Once completed the mega blanket will be broken back down into blankets and donated to charity so your knitting will be doing good.
We have currently knitted 465.7 feet square and are aiming to reach 42,541 feet square. Yes we are far away but I'm sure together we can make it, and we're having so much fun. If anyone would like to join in I'd love to chat with you and direct you to our group.
In the mean time enjoy the beautiful pictures of the blankets we've made so far!
