Antes de comenzar me gustaría agradecer a todas las personas que dejaron su comentario de apoyo en la primera publicación y trataron de adivinar la persona que inspiró el amigurumi, me alegra mucho tener ese tipo de feedback en cualquier publicación, pero cuando se trata de algo que estoy creando se siente mucho más bonito. Sin más preámbulo el proyecto se trata de una versión amigurumi de David Bowie en el video “Life on Mars” del año 1973, la canción pertenece al álbum Hunky Dory de 1971, obviamente David fue conocido por ser un camaleón por sus cambios de estilo a través de los años, a si como su encasillable música con la cual experimento tanto como para ser consideradas obras más que canciones, jugando incluso con algo de teatro musical.
El diseño de ese vestuario en particular convirtió su imagen en todo un icono de la cultura pop, además que la canción ha sido versionada en muchas ocasiones y ha aparecido en muchas series de televisión, uno de los recuerdos más recientes que tengo es por ejemplo cuando la increíble Jessica Lange (la actriz rubia original de King Kong) aparece con un vestuario igual cantando esa canción en la serie American Horror Story: Freak Show, cuando vi esa escena mi piel se erizó y dije omg es Life on Mars no lo puedo creer!!!!
Lamentablemente mi esposo en la imaginación David Bowie murió el 10 de enero del año 2016, aún recuerdo esa fecha con un inmenso dolor, yo desperté de madrugada para darle pecho a mi hijo y encendí la tv en silencio solo para usar su luz y vi la noticia de su fallecimiento, él había cumplido 69 años apenas dos días antes y había lanzado su video Blackstar en Noviembre, pues prácticamente en secreto estaba luchando con el cáncer y antes de morir decidió hacer un disco, las letras de ese disco son proféticas, prácticamente estaba anunciando su muerte sin que nos diéramos cuenta, en el video de la canción Lazarus es un ejemplo. Él fue en vida un extraterrestre que llegó a la tierra para dar amor y crear un espacio para lo incomprendidos, ahora que ya no está ha dejado de ser una estrella brillante para convertirse en una estrella negra, un agujero en el espacio tiempo, donde su recuerdo perdurará siempre sin importar lo que pase.
Before we start I would like to thank all the people who left their supportive comment on the first post and tried to guess the person who inspired the amigurumi, I am very happy to have that kind of feedback on any post, but when it comes to something that I am creating it feels much more beautiful. Without further ado, the project is an amigurumi version of David Bowie in the video "Life on Mars" from 1973, the song belongs to the 1971 Hunky Dory album, obviously David was known to be a chameleon for his style changes to over the years, as his pigeonhole music with which I experiment so much as to be considered works rather than songs, even playing with some musical theater.
The design of that particular wardrobe turned his image into an icon of pop culture, in addition to that the song has been covered on many occasions and has appeared in many television series, one of the most recent memories I have is for example when the incredible Jessica Lange (the original blonde King Kong actress) appears with a similar costume singing that song in the series American Horror Story: Freak Show, when I saw that scene my skin crawled and I said omg it's Life on Mars I can't believe it !!!!
Unfortunately my husband in imagination David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, I still remember that date with immense pain, I woke up at dawn to breastfeed my son and I turned on the TV silently just to use its light and I saw the news of his death, he had turned 69 just two days before and had released his video Blackstar in November, because practically in secret he was fighting with cancer and before he died he decided to make an album, the lyrics of that album are prophetic, practically he was announcing his death without our realizing it, in the video for the song Lazarus is an example. He was an alien in life who came to earth to give love and create a space for the misunderstood, now that he is no longer a bright star to become a black star, a hole in space time, where his memory will last forever no matter what happens.
Cuando mi amigo @majenye me encomendó hacer este amigurumi no lo dudé ni un segundo, asi que comencé en primer lugar a hacer la estructura de alambre, los zapatos y los pantalones tal como expliqué en la anterior publicación.
When my friend @majenye asked me to make this amigurumi, I didn't hesitate for a second, so I first started making the wire frame, the shoes and the pants as I explained in the previous post.
Continué tejiendo el tronco con hilo negro de manera recta hasta llegar a la altura de la axilas, aparte con hilo beige tejí 4 puntos bajos en un anillo para cada iniciar cada uno de los dedos de las manos y los uní por puntos bajos e hice disminuciones para crear la muñeca, cambiando a hilo negro para continuar tejiendo el brazo. Hice dos brazos iguales y los tejí a cada lado del tronco, posteriormente hice disminuciones para crear los trapecios y el cuello. Como la camisa es negra con una pequeñas rayas blancas, no quise tejer rayas blancas con puntos porque harían que los colores fueran del mismo ancho, así que decidí bordar con hilo blanco la rallas por toda la camisa, esta parte del proceso me tomó mucho más tiempo del que imaginé, pero tuvo un resultado decente considerando que es mayormente visible la parte del pecho.
I continued knitting the trunk with black thread in a straight way until reaching the level of the armpits, apart with beige thread I wove 4 single crochets in a ring for each beginning of each of the fingers of the hands and joined them by single crochets and made decreases to create the doll, changing to black yarn to continue knitting the arm. I made two equal arms and wove them on each side of the trunk, then I made decreases to create the trapezoids and the neck. As the shirt is black with small white stripes, I did not want to knit white stripes with dots because they would make the colors the same width, so I decided to embroider the stripes all over the shirt with white thread, this part of the process took me much longer time than I imagined, but it had a decent result considering that the chest part is mostly visible.
Posteriormente con hilo blanco tomando el lado del frente de los puntos tejí el cuello de la camisa. Aparte con hilo beige tejí puntos bajos en un anillo y haciendo seis aumentos por ronda obtuve un círculo del ancho necesario para la cabeza, tejí recto luego hice disminuciones, tejí recto nuevamente e hice las disminuciones finales, rellené y cosí la cabeza al cuerpo.
Later with white thread taking the side of the front of the stitches I knit the neck of the shirt. Apart with beige thread I knitted single crochets in a ring and making six increases per round I obtained a circle of the necessary width for the head, I knit straight then I made decreases, I knitted straight again and made the final decreases, filled and sewed the head to the body.
La corbata era plateada por eso utilice hilo gris plateado, haciendo los detalles con el hilo rojo y blanco así como unas pequeñas puntadas bordadas en turquesa para que fuera similar a la corbata original. Cosí la corbata a la parte delantera del cuello.
The tie was silver so I used silver gray thread, making the details with the red and white thread as well as some small embroidered stitches in turquoise to make it similar to the original tie. I sewed the tie to the front of the neck.
Bordar los ojos me llevó varios intentos, porque quería que se vieran los más cerca posible al verdadero, es decir el maquillaje de sus ojos era importante, pero el detalle más importante de sus ojos azules es que la pupila del ojo izquierdo (derecho para el observador) siempre estaba dilatada debido a un accidente que David Bowie tuvo en su ojo cuando era niño, en los primeros intentos de bordado lo hice exageradamente grande y tuve que deshacerlo, eso hasta me partió una uña, pero luego lo hice de un tamaño menor considerando que es un amigurumi, pero cuando obtuve el resultado final aun me parece que la pupila derecha debió ser mas grande. La nariz y las orejas los hice con el mismo hilo beige, la boca la hice con hilo de coser rosado y el sombra y el rubor lo hice con tiza pastel.
Embroidering the eyes took me several attempts, because I wanted them to look as close as possible to the real one, that is, the makeup of his eyes was important, but the most important detail of his blue eyes is that the pupil of the left eye (right for the observer) it was always dilated due to an accident that David Bowie had in his eye as a child, in the first attempts at embroidery I made it exaggeratedly large and had to undo it, that even broke a nail, but then I made it smaller considering that it is an amigurumi, but when I got the final result it still seems to me that the right pupil must have been bigger. I made the nose and ears with the same beige thread, I made the mouth with pink sewing thread and the shadow and blush I did with pastel chalk.
Para el cabello inserté hebras de hilo rojo, luego alisé n poco las hebras con una plancha para cabello y luego realicé el corte de cabello, el cual es corto por arriba y largo por la parte de abajo, a este corte de cabello se le conoce como “mullet hair” y era común en la estrellas de la música de los años 70y 80, asimismo algunos futbolista de fama mundial usaron ese tipo de cortes de cabello por mucho tiempo.
For the hair I inserted strands of red thread, then I smoothed the strands a little with a hair straightener and then I made the haircut, which is short at the top and long at the bottom, this haircut is known like “mullet hair” and it was common in the music stars of the 70s and 80s, also some world famous footballers wore this type of haircut for a long time.
El saco lo tejí con el mismo hilo acrílico turquesa, pero lo realicé con dos agujas de 2mm de espesor, comenzando con 19 puntadas mas 2 puntadas para los orillos, tejiendo primero el cuello, luego marqué con unas hebra de otro color los lugares donde haría los aumentos para crear las mangas, cuando obtuve la altura deseada, dividí el tejido, uní los delanteros con la espalda y tejí recto hasta el largo total, luego tomé las mangas por cada lado y tejí hasta obtener el largo del brazo tejiendo igualmente en punto jersey, luego solo cosí el lado de adentro de las mangas con el mismo hilo. Planché el saco y cosí el botón.
I wove the jacket with the same turquoise acrylic thread, but I did it with two 2mm thick needles, starting with 19 stitches plus 2 stitches for the selvages, first knitting the neck, then I marked with some threads of another color the places where I would do the increases to create the sleeves, when I obtained the desired height, I divided the fabric, joined the front ones with the back and knitted straight to the full length, then I took the sleeves on each side and knitted until the arm length was obtained by knitting the same sweater, then I just sewed the inside of the sleeves with the same thread. I ironed the jacket and sewed the button.

Creo que podría tomar como costumbre esto de hacer en dos publicaciones mis proyectos más complicados, porque la carga de escribir la publicación y la edición de imágenes pude balancearla en mi horario de una forma menos estresante, disfruté mucho haciendo estas dos publicaciones y espero seguir compartiendo en esta comunidad que tanto me gusta
I think I could get into the habit of doing my most complicated projects in two posts, because the burden of writing the post and editing images was able to balance it in my schedule in a less stressful way, I really enjoyed doing these two posts and I hope to continue sharing in this community that I like so much

Me encantó tu amigurumi de David Bowie, es perfecto, los colores, el cabello, los zapatos, amé los zapatos! todo es perfecto! Por cierto mientras te leia no pude evitar pensar en la pelicula Laberinto, donde el rey interpretado por David Bowie, pone a prueba a la chica para impedir que llegue al castillo y rescate a tu hermanito. Yo también uso una aguja para tejer, pero no precisamente para tejer, sino para hacer mis figuras ya que es bastante útil por la forma de la aguja. Me pareció un muy buen trabajo! I am sure David Bowie would have loved his amigurumi <3 I also remember the day he died: I was alone in the north for teaching and we had a lot of snow and I felt a bit lonely and then this happened. I was devastated. Even in death he transformed it into art <3
