Making a Midi free gown for myself

Hello Needleworkers
Happy new year to everyone in this lovely community , hope youre all having a lovely new year already
So today, i want to share with you the steps i used un making this free midi dress for myself ❤️

This dress has become very popular for it's beauty and simplicity and so whenever i see a person wear it, i get so attracted to it and I've always wanted to own one to myself and in the process of purchasing new stuffs for my sewing, I got this beautiful vintage material so that i can use it in the sewing process
These are the materials I used in making it:

  • Vintage material -2 and a half yards
  • Sewing machine
  • Measuring tape
  • Stir gum etc

And these are the process used in making the material :
Firstly i bent my material into two and measured my bust, body and hips measurements on the cloth including the length of the cloth, i then went along to bend my neck according to the measurements i took and the added my stir gum to it, after getting the front part of the cloth, i placed the cut out part on the material again and cut out the back side of the dress and also attached my stir gum to the next

I bent the hem of the dress for both side , and since I wasn't going to use a lining I just bent it like that

After adding this I bent the hem of my neck and cut out a v shape and also added the stir gum to it

This was the part where I picked up the two sides of the clothes and joined it together using my sewing machine from the top down to the length of the dress and also attached the rope i had cut out and then kept a small allowance or a small space so that I can insert the hand

This time, i tried cutting out the hand of my cloth , i measured on my material, the length, the wrist size and the cut it out after which i placed it on the material and still cut out the second part

After attaching it, i arrived at this and did all the finish work that was necessary, the trimmings etc and this is what my final work looked like

When i wore it, I'm glad it looked pretty like when i saw it on other people, the front view turned out this way

And this is the back view

Thank you so much for sparing your time to read through my post
