¡Hola, espero te encuentres de maravilla!
Hi, I hope you are feeling great!
I am very excited about this publication. I don't think I've done anything similar to this format before. Maybe some of you do know how exciting it is when someone you admire loves your gift...It's out of this world, jaja. Let's see how it was!.
¡Hamuy!
Last year I brought out the "Reconocerte Perú" collection, the aim of which was to offer the dolls in physical form. If it is a question of offering the finished product, here I value more the details that I put into it, in this case the "embroidery" of the clothes, as this depends on the experience and patience of the weaver.
Although the character of Guaman Poma (chronicler and illustrator of Peru) is in black and white, it was Rusbel from Inkari kamaq who gave color to Guaman Poma. Just a few months ago I contacted him and showed him this woven doll. He recognised it immediately and loved it.
We agreed that I would send it to him this year. So I decided to give her the original piece (the Guaman Poma n°1) and design another one, this time to make her pattern, that is to say, the challenge was to simplify the pattern with less embroidery so that it would be replicable.
Here I took the opportunity to redesign the cape. At first it was removable, then I sewed it to the neck to prevent it from getting lost. I forgot, this doll is designed as a toy for children, that's why it is medium sized (7.8 in) and has a robust body (Guaman Poma child version, jaja).
I also redesigned the hat. When I offer the doll in physical form, I try to get the color and texture of the original character. In this case, the hat has a different type of yarn (rougher) due to the light straw color of the hat in the reference image... I don't change the yarn when I design a pattern, because the idea is to use the same type of yarn to crochet the doll (to be efficient).

I still have to finish the Guaman Poma pattern. On the other hand, just yesterday Rusbel received his present (Yehhh!). As I said at the beginning, things like this make me keep designing toys and change the way we look at our roots.
¡Hasta la próxima!
See you next time!.
| To know that an amigurumi is at home is extraordinary. In the photo below are both versions of Guaman Poma. The brightly colored one is Rusbel's and the straw colored one is my version.

Yes I really know how it feels for someone you admire love your work
It even give you energy to keep doing what you are doing
I love this, you did great
Exactly. Even better if you share a photo on your networks, so that you reach more people. Big hugs.
This looks really nice. Pretty sure my nephew would love to have this.
I am glad to read that. Guaman Poma is a character of Peruvian history, although he should be better known (that's what I'm here for, to spread the word, jaja). For me he's like a superhero, but he did exist. Big hugs.
I'm really in love with this, I know how children here will cherish this creative work. I hope I can also do something like this in future
Thank you very much. I'm sure you will. The amigurumi dolls adapt to the designer, that is to say, you can crochet whatever you want.
When someone love and admire your work that means it gives you the power and energy to move forward with your work, i really love your skill, well done ma'am
Thank you very much!. Now my friend has Guaman Poma in his collection of gifts. Big hugs!.
I must say that alot of us do admire this, myself inclusive. Well done dear.
This is lovely.
Thank you very much Monica. I love to design (create) them, whether they are people, animals, plants or a mixture of these. The Guaman Poma pattern (crocheting guide) is coming soon, so that this character can reach different parts of the world.
Abrazotes.
