Amigurumi – Personajes peruanos #14 : Mini Timoteo

Timoteo, fue el dragón preferido por todos los niños peruanos en los años 90´s. Recuerdo que cada sábado me levantaba temprano para habilitar todo listo y sentarme por horas a ver su programa de televisión. Era un programa infantil completo, tenía dibujos animados, canciones con coreografías, concursos entre los niños asistentes, premiaban a los niños vía telefónica, actuaciones y también invitaban a cantantes nacionales e internacionales.

Timoteo was the favourite dragon of all Peruvian children in the 90s. I remember that every Saturday I used to get up early to get everything ready and sit for hours to watch his television programme. It was a complete children's programme, with cartoons, choreographed songs, competitions between the children, prizes for the children via telephone, performances and they also invited national and international singers.

Este programa tuvo 2 etapas, la Nº1 fue “Karina y Timoteo” y la otra “María Pía y Timoteo”. En lo personal, me encantaba más Karina porque disfrutaba estar rodeada de los niños y eso se notaba bastante, era más tranquila, alegre y muy divertida. Timoteo era el otro protagonista, quien hacía de las suyas por todo el set del canal. En cada episodio, había un tema donde actuaban a lo largo del programa, iniciaba con una travesura de Timoteo, Karina le explicaba qué es lo que estaba haciendo mal y al final aprendía de su error.

This programme had 2 stages, the first one was "Karina y Timoteo" and the other one was "María Pía y Timoteo". Personally, I loved Karina more because she enjoyed being surrounded by the children and that was quite noticeable, she was calmer, happier and very funny. Timoteo was the other main character, who was all over the set of the channel. In each episode, there was a theme where they acted throughout the programme, starting with Timoteo's mischief, Karina would explain to him what he was doing wrong and at the end he would learn from his mistake.

También recuerdo cuando los visitó banads como: Jarabe de Palo, Los Parchis, Mauricio y Palo de Agua, grupos nacionales, entre otros. Ni qué decir de los dibujos del momento (era bastantes). Debo confesar que aprendí a bailar con Timoteo, jaja… fue y será siendo uno de mis personajes favoritos de la infancia. Actualmente, el actor que dio vida a este personaje ya no será mas Timoteo, debido a que el Canal tiene los derechos de autor del personaje.

I also remember when bands such as Jarabe de Palo, Los Parchis, Mauricio y Palo de Agua, national groups, among others, visited them. Not to mention the drawings of the time (there were quite a few). I must confess that I learned to dance with Timoteo, haha... he was and will be one of my favourite childhood characters. Currently, the actor who gave life to this character will no longer be Timoteo, because the Channel has the copyright of the character.

Materiales /materials :

• Hilos de algodón (4 hebras) / Cotton thread (4 strands)
• crochet 2 mm
• tijera / scissor
• napa siliconada / silicone coating
• aguja lanera / wool needle
• ojos de seguridad 7mm/ security eyes 7mm
• alfileres con cabeza / headed pins

A tejer/ To weave:

En un inicio traté de bordar los ojos similar al personaje, luego traté de adaptarlo al estilo @iniciartecraft. Se vino otra complicación, no supe cómo formar el hocico, boca y cachetes. Al 3er intento recién salió algo decente (fig.1). El cuerpo si fue sencillo de tejer (fig. 2). La parte de las frente, fue tejida con puntos altos y cocida dándole forma ondulada (fig. 3). Al tratarse de personajes pequeños, varias formas son un poco más complicados de tejer por ejemplo el interior de las orejas (fig. 4). Las púas de la espalda fueron tejidas a base de triángulos, se tejió las piernas y cola (fig. 5 y 6).

At first I tried to embroider the eyes similar to the character, then I tried to adapt it to the @iniciartecraft style. Another complication came up, I didn't know how to form the snout, mouth and cheeks. At the 3rd attempt something decent came out (fig.1). The body was easy to knit (fig.2). The part of the forehead was knitted with high stitches and stitched into a wavy shape (fig. 3). As these are small characters, various shapes are a little more complicated to knit, for example the inside of the ears (fig. 4). The spikes on the back were knitted with triangles, and the legs and tail were knitted (fig. 5 and 6).

Por último, se tejió las famosas manchas rosadas en la espalda y piernas, también se tejió la cresta. Pienso tejer uno de tamaño mediano, para ver si sale más parecido al personaje.

Finally, I knitted the famous pink spots on the back and legs, and I also knitted the crest. I plan to knit a medium sized one, to see if it looks more like the character.

 Dato curioso: Estuve a punto de no insistir con este personaje, en verdad cada vez que lo veía sentía que le faltaba algo y no me convencía / I was on the verge of not insisting on this character, in truth, every time I saw him I felt that something was missing and I wasn't convinced.
