Classic A line female outfit

in NeedleWorkMonday4 years ago

Hello hive,

Having ventured into designing and displaying male outfit for on my blog as my area of expertise for a while Today I bring to you my first experimental imagination and design for a female A line gown.
I thought I could also acquire a little more skill on how to cut and sew a female dress.

Here is how I designed this one.

Materials used

  • I got 4yards of fabric

  • 3 yards of lining

  • A ready made cape
    design.
Made from the same color of the fabric

  • 18 inches gown zip

  • Thread

Cutting and sewing

My drafting was done together, that is I cut both the front and back block together
After folding the fabric into a four fold.

Stitching

For the stitching aspect.
I started with using the lining as a facing to turn the neckline of the dress.
After which the front and back block were held in by an inch seam allowance on both sides.

This was then properly ironed flat before I used the button hole machine to stitched in the ready made cape design in place, round about the neckline.

Sometimes its best to set the cape in place using a fabric glue to hold it down before the stitching.

The ready to wear cape is manufactured in various design and available for sale at the market, some are embellished with stones to make them glitters

You can see the effect of such on the this dress that I have made
Ironing was what I did last before packaging and delivering the outfit to my client who loved it so much.

Impeccable result, you work with great detail. The embroidered trim is beautiful. I didn't know there was a glue to fix the fabrics. Regards

Thanks so much
yes you can get a glue to do that its called fabric glue
It will hold it firm so that you can sew your fabrics well
