Love the idea of multipurpose buttons. Most of the buttons on my clothes are designed to be invisible. Some shirts even have flaps to hide the buttons completely. I much prefer your bold mystical magical buttons with stories to tell.

    • Gosh, fascinating, yes, about hiding fastenings rather than having them visible and purposeful and meaningful: beyond utility-oriented, where something becomes purely functional and hidden! Makes me think of how the purpose and meaning of so many things are hidden from us (like, things are made to fail after a certain time, and cannot be fixed) by their invisibility, and we accept the mystery and leave it to others/ external authorities to resolve...
      I thought a lot too, about how buttons and beads are related to coins and money - how they might have been traded and swapped as folks travelled about the world... Thanks for your great comment here, dearest @exoexplorer!
