I had an exhibition kind of, more like a party but vendors were allowed to rent stands and sell their products. This is one of the things I made for the event.
At first I didn’t know what to make. I’m not so good at making outfits or anything directly from my head. I rarely design outfits too. This was one of the struggles I have (hahahahaha)
Anyways I had this color combo inspiration from an old project I worked on for a client.
So I just decided to make random squares and just see where it will lead me( yes I didn’t know what I’ll be making from the beginning I just thought it’ll click when I go farther, and it did)
I just thought why don’t I make a hat at once. It won't be a bad idea (a little tip I’m not really into bright colors so I was really trusting the process here).
I decided to make this like a normal human, make all foundation squares then finish everything at the same time ( as funny as this may sound when making granny squares I finish one full square before starting another till I finish the entire project).
I followed a uniform pattern for the mixture because I honestly had a lot to make and didn’t want to spend too much time on one. At some point my eyes were hurting because of the colors (I wear glasses and yes I had them on) the colors were just outstandingly bright (if that’s a thing).
So I made the first step. Went on to second. Only used yellow in one line so it won’t be too much. After making the squares the joining was something else. This is where I could say my eyes fell Out. They didn’t tho. I finished joining the four parts in a straight line and connected all of them to the square in the middle.(the base)
When I finished the base I had to determine consistency for the ruffles. I honestly do not remember the exact number buh it’s between three stitches in each space to four stitches in each space.
The first row looked promising so I went on to the next row to make it bigger. I ended up making two rows for the ruffles and then came the finishing.
I was laughing when one side looked perfect buh the other looked like a crochet forest(hahaha). The yarns sticking out were a lot a whole lot. I sew it into the stitches then count out the parts I couldn’t like from every part of the square.
I thought about burning the ends but then it would have been visible so I dashed the thought. Sew it in, stitched some and cut some and it finally looked good on both sides.
This is a list of the things I used to make it:
*4.0mm hook for the squares
*4.5mm hook for the ruffles
*darning needle
*3 balls of 40g yarns
*measurement tape
Ps: the pictures here belong to me and we’re taken with my mobile device.
