A customer came around to the shop and told me that she has a Kampala fabric that she will like to make a trouser, shirt and scarf. She is a first time customer but she has been seeing my works whenever she passes by. On our first meeting she didn't come along with the fabric, she only stopped to ask if it's something I can make within 7 days and also to ask the cost of making the dress. We had a deal and she brought the fabrics some days after.

Her choice of top is that she likes it big and free, so I added just 1 inch each to her normal body measurements, so that it will be big just the way she likes it. Also, the trouser is a regular trouser, that is, it is not also going to be too fitted like a pant. To start with, I began by cutting the fabrics into pieces, then I weaved the edges of the fabric neatly. It is advisable to weave before sewing so that if you have a fabric that tend to pull out from the edges, it will not give you a challenge. Weaving before sewing also makes your work neat compared to when you weave after sewing.

After weaving, I took the fabrics to the machine to commence the sewing. It took me almost a whole day to finish the dress - this does not include the cutting of fabrics, ironing of the pieces and weaving of the fabrics. So, it took approximately two days to get the work done. However, I decided not to deliver when I was done because I wanted to display the style at my shop for some days for other customers to view and possibly request a similar style for themselves.
