Hey lovelies ❤️
It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese 😍
Welcome to my blog 🤗

In this post I will be sharing with you how I made a beautiful gown using George fabrics for a customer. The gown has a structured bodice and it has a mermaid skirt that flares from the knee down to the bottom. The duration for the completion of the dress was about two days due to the complexity of the style and also the demands such as breaking some of the beads on the part that will be stitched. This is to prevent the sewing needle from breaking when it comes in contact with the beads.
Materials Needed
- 4 yards of George fabric
- 4 yards of lining
- 1 yard of hair stay
- ¼ yard of breast pad
- Zip
- Tailoring chalk
- Matching sewing threads
Step by Step
These are the following measurements that will be used in making this gown: bust (43"), upper bust (41"), under bust (14.5"), waist (40"), hip (44"), round shoulder circumference (47"), top length (24"), full length (57").

Start by folding the fabric into two ensuring the right sides are facing each other.
Next, using the measurements highlighted above draft your bodice and add 2" seam allowance.

Next, cut the front pieces and back pieces and add 1.5" zipper allowance at the center of the back piece.
Next, fold your lining into two and use the front and back pieces of the main george fabrics to carefully cut out your lining.

Next, iron the breast pad and interface to the front piece which is to add structure to the bodice.
Next, sew the front and back pieces of tge fabric together. Repeat the same process for the lining as well.

Then use the lining to turn tge bodice and give it a good press.
Next, attach the shoulders to the front and back pieces and use your pressing iron to press it very well.

Next, for the skirt part, fold the fabric into two and draft it using the waist measurement (40"), hip measurement (44") and the length (33"). The skirt will. E fitted from the waist down to the knee and it will fkare out from the knee to the base.

Next, cut tge skirt pieces (both george fabric and lining), then sew the lining to the front piece and back piece of the george fabric.
Next, carefully attach the skirt part to the bodice and insert the zipper at the center back piece.

Next, hem the skirt neatly and use hand needle to attach the net that comes with the George fabrics to the front piece of the bodice to add some beautiful detailing.
Then also hand-tack the net to the skirt part (temporarily). Depending on the style of the person it can be removed and styled according to preference each time it is to be worn.

Next, wear the gown on a mannequin to check for any adjustments and so on.

Then I took the dress to another tailoring shop where the eyelet was done. I don't have the machine in my shop.

Your dress is ready.
Thanks for reading and see you in my next one.

It's a beautiful piece of work. I've always wanted to make a corset, and I find it incredibly difficult. Congratulations on creating something so beautiful and high-quality.
This is beautiful.
The corset dress I made was worn just once and has been laying peacefully in my bag for about a year now.....I am not wearing again.
It was fine but very inconvenient.
Hello dear.. Corset dresses are always very beautiful but it is the inconvenience that makes it a no-no for so many people. I have a couple of them too that I wear during important occasions and I try as much as I can not to snatch it too much lol.
