Hola amigos espero que estén muy bien. El día de hoy les quiero compartir 😃 una experiencia que viví y disfruté muchísimo. Ya mi mamá está en la ciudad, vino a compartir con sus hijas, nietos y bisnieta. Si Dios quiere se quedará hasta año nuevo con nosotros.
A mi mamá le gusta estar activa, es una mujer proactiva. Así que como ya anda inquieta se me ocurrió invitarla a crear accesorios para su cocina, ya que hace unos días me pidió que le tejiera unos agarra ollas.
Hello friends, I hope you are very well. Today I want to share with you 😃 an experience that I lived and enjoyed very much. My mom is already in town, she came to share with her daughters, grandchildren and great granddaughter. God willing she will stay with us until the new year.
My mom likes to be active, she is a proactive woman. So, since she is already restless, I thought of inviting her to create accessories for her kitchen, since a few days ago she asked me to knit her some pot holders.
Me hace muy feliz tener a mi mamá cerca, aunque nosotras no salimos a pasear con frecuencia tratamos de que su estadía aquí sea placentera. Mi hermana la cuida y consciente mucho preparándole deliciosas comidas y yo trato en lo posible de que se mantenga ocupada, entretenida y relajada. Es por eso que quise hacerla partícipe en la elaboración de sus agarra ollas.
Esta idea se me ocurrió luego de haberle realizado los primeros dos. Me levanté muy temprano, tejí y elaboré dos agarra ollas sencillos. Mientras los hacia pensé en conseguir material para hacer varios con la ayuda de mi mamá. Acá les muestro los que hice yo sola.
It makes me very happy to have my mom around, even though we don't go out often we try to make her stay here a pleasant one. My sister takes care of her and is very conscientious about preparing delicious meals for her and I try as much as possible to keep her busy, entertained and relaxed. That's why I wanted to involve her in making her pot holders.
This idea came to me after I made the first two. I got up very early, knitted and made two simple pot holders. While I was making them I thought about getting material to make several with my mom's help. Here I show you the ones I made by myself.
🙋 Usando hilo pabilo color azul tejí el aplique de una gallina. Lo tejí con una aguja de 3,25mm porque quería que me quedara grande, sin embargo los puntos quedaron muy abiertos y flojos. Así que los próximos los tejeré con una aguja de 2,25mm. Este me encantó. La tela con la que forré la funda no es la más adecuada por lo que mi mamá lo usará más como adorno en su cocina.
🙋 Using blue wick yarn I knitted the applique of a chicken. I knitted it with a 3,25mm needle because I wanted it to be big, but the stitches were too open and loose. So I will knit the next ones with a 2.25mm needle. I loved this one. The fabric with which I lined the cover is not the most suitable so my mom will use it more as an ornament in her kitchen.
🙋 Tejí en color anaranjado un corazón en un recuadro. La técnica se llama filet. Con tela de color marrón realicé una funda, le coloqué por dentro guata y luego cosí para cerrar la funda. En esa funda cosí el cuadrito tejido color naranja. Ese le encantó a mi mamá.
🙋 I knitted in orange color a heart in a square. The technique is called filet. With brown fabric I made a cover, put wadding inside and then sewed to close the cover. In that cover I sewed the orange woven square. My mom loved that one.
Los dos agarra ollas se ven muy bonitos. A mi mamá le gustaron. Así que le propuse hacer otros más con su colaboración y me dijo que sí. Le dejé estos dos para que los guardara en su maleta.
The two pot holders look very nice. My mom liked them. So I proposed to her to make some more with her collaboration and she said yes. I left these two for her to keep in her suitcase.
Hace unos días había hecho limpieza y conseguí un poco de esponja guardada en el escaparate. Así que enseguida la saqué y busqué una tela reciclada con la que haríamos los agarra ollas. La idea era hacer agarra ollas cuadrados cortando la esponja en cuadritos y haciéndoles las fundas con esta tela gris que parece fieltro comprimido. Después yo tejería varios diseños para cubrir las fundas.
Mi mamá se emocionó y ese mismo día cortamos la esponja. Me dijo que si le podía tejer diseños de colores variados mejor.
A few days ago I had done some cleaning and got some sponge stored in the window. So I immediately took it out and looked for a recycled fabric with which we would make the pot holders. The idea was to make square pot holders by cutting the sponge into squares and making the covers with this gray fabric that looks like compressed felt. Then I would weave various designs to cover the covers.
My mom got excited and that same day we cut the sponge. She told me that if I could knit designs in different colors, all the better.
Se siente muy bien reunirse con otra persona a la que le gusta hacer manualidades. Mi mamá es una artista, ella convierte cualquier material reciclado en un bello y útil objeto para su casa. Por eso me entusiasmé en buscar estos materiales.
Mi mamá dijo que para ella con seis agarra ollas estaría bien, así que empezamos haciendo los de ella y después haré unos para mi hermana y para mí.
It feels great to get together with another person who likes to do crafts. My mom is an artist, she turns any recycled material into a beautiful and useful object for her home. That's why I was excited to look for these materials.
My mom said six pot holders would be fine for her, so we started making hers and then I'll make some for my sister and me.

Yo no me acordaba que la máquina de mi mamá está aquí en Maturín, así que ella se encargó de coser la fundas y meterle la esponja. Mientras yo me ocupaba de tejer los forros o adornos para cada agarra ollas.
I didn't remember that my mom's machine is here in Maturín, so she was in charge of sewing the covers and putting in the sponge. While I took care of weaving the linings or ornaments for each pot holder.
Ya teníamos todo lo necesario elaborado para empezar a colocar el tejido en cada agarra ollas. Pero mi mamá se sintió bastante mal y no quiso coser. Su tensión estuvo alterada por varios días. Tuvimos que llevarla al día siguiente al médico. Mientras ella reposaba yo cosí con hilo y aguja los primeros cuatro agarra ollas que ya teníamos tejidos.
Since we had everything we needed worked out to start attaching the fabric to each pot holder. But my mom felt pretty bad and didn't want to sew. Her blood pressure was very high for several days. We had to take her to the doctor the next day. While she was resting, I sewed with thread and needle the first four pot holders that we already had woven.
Después de llevar a mamá al medico me senté de nuevo para terminar de tejer los dos forros que faltaban. Me gasté todos los sobrantes de hilos pabilos que tenía, también aproveché unos tapetes pequeños que tenía para hacer los grannys. Me gusta mucho como se ven estos dos últimos.
After taking mom to the doctor I sat down again to finish knitting the two remaining linings. I used up all the leftover pabilo yarn I had, I also used some small rugs I had to make the grannys. I really like the way these last two look.
De esta manera hemos finalizado el proyecto de los nuevos agarra ollas para mi mamá. En total realizamos 6. Cortamos la esponja en cuadros. Mi mamá les hizo un forro con fieltro a cada uno y yo tejí y cosí un forro para cada agarra ollas. A todos les hice el asa. Me gustó mucho hacer esto. Voy a esperar que se recupere para que hagamos otros seis; para mi hermana y para mí.
This way we have finished the project of the new pot holders for my mom. In total we made 6. We cut the sponge into squares. My mom made a felt lining for each one and I knitted and sewed a lining for each pot holder. I made the handle for all of them. I really enjoyed doing this. I'm going to wait for her to recover so we can make another six; for my sister and me.
