Ciao needleworkers!
My dear friend who lives in the city, loved a bag that I made for myself out of an old, favourite blanket - and asked me to make a similar one out of her old blankie!
I started - finally! - yesterday, by doing a wee rough sketch to clarify conceptually how I could cut up the material most efficiently. This would make sure that I kept the blue border in the right places.
So I began with the strap: cut off 2 long strips from the longer sides of the blanket, then sewed them together and turned the completed piece inside out;
Then I cut the big rectangle for the front and back of the bag, and the smaller strips for the sides and bottom:
I'm in the process now of the construction: the sides and front/ back are attached, and I'm doing the fiddley job of sewing in the bottom....
It feels wonderful to be getting a lot of projects in movement! Thank you all for your encouragement and accountability!
Blessings!
Clare.
This fabric/ pattern ( even the colors ) reminds me a lot of a blanket from the past, probably sewn by my grandmother :^)
Aw, I love that, Vincent! Yes, it has a lovely old-fashioned feel to it that I am loving working with!
Reintegrating more waste back into the earth♻🌍👍
Or - keeping it out of the earth! 😍🤩
I love your work, I know you will achieve your goal.
Thank you so much dear friend! It has been very fulfilling indeed!
