It's another beautiful day and I bring you greetings from my sewing room, I hope you are all doing great just as I am doing here, it's the beginning of a new year and I hope you are all back to work from the festive break, but for my sew mate out there, it's a time for us to rest from all the work done during Christmas and new year which is expected, unfortunately, it not so for me as I have a lot of projects requested to be made and I have to get back to work immediately.

Today, I will be sharing with you the making of this simple and beautiful cross body/ sling bag I made for my cousin for safe keeping of her phone, charger and wallet.

Last year, my cousin wanted me to make her a small bag for safe keeping of her phone and other small items she goes out with, but because I was busy making different outfit for people for the festive season, I promised to make the bag as soon as I was done, thinking of what to make, as she requested, the hand bag will be too small, so instead, I decided to make a cross body bag for her which I think will look great on her than the small hand bag.

From the left over pieces of fabric I had left from the bag I made for myself, I cut out 18 x 11" for the main bag with lining and interfacing ironed on the main fabric.

For the handle, I cut out 55 x 4" for the main fabric

The piece for the handle was folded to the middle and folded in two then I sew on both sides to have the handle ready and it was set aside.

The main fabric for the bad was folded in two, I measured 1.5 x 1.5 on both sides and inward at the top as well then it was connected together just as seen below.

The marked area were cut out and the same process was repeated on the lining.

I placed a zipper at the top and sew it with lining on both sides, after which I placed the handle on both sides of the zipper and it was sewn together.

I placed the main fabric to main fabric and lining to lining as I sew on both sides leaving an opening by the side where it can be turned inside out.

The for edges on the lining and main fabric were sewn together as well and turned inside out through the opening on the lining.

The opening on the lining was sewn together and I have the cross body bag ready.

Finally, the beautiful cross body or sling bag is ready for my cousin just as I had promised, now she can have her thing kept in the bag and comfortably hang across her body.
