Recently, I made a bag for my sister as a Christmas gift which she was very happy to receive and after making the bag, I had some left over and I decided to make a purse with it just as the customized bags sold in stores with a small purse with the bag, after making this, the outcome was so nice, though, this will be a surprise to my sister as the bag I made has been delivered to her during Christmas.

Let me take you through the cutting and sewing process of this small purse.

From the left over fabric, I cut out 2 pieces of 12 x 8" with lining and interfacing, the interfacing was ironed on the main fabric and set aside.

On the main fabric, I marked out 1.5" on both sides of the down part and 1.5" on at the top, it was connected and cut out.

It was placed on the other piece and lining to cut out same shape.

I took a piece of the main fabric and placed my zipper on it before I placed the lining on the zipper, it was sewn together and top stitched on the other side.

On the other side of the zipper, I placed the other fabric on it and zipper before it was sewn together as well and top stitched on.

I went ahead to place the main fabric to main fabric and lining to lining with the zipper opened to the middle and I sew on both sides leaving an opening on the lining from where it can be turned inside out.

The opening on the four sides were sewn together on each side just as seen below.
