Happy new week and a beautiful Monday to you all in this great community @needleworkmonday , I hope you all are great and having nice time with your creativity. Today, I'm glad to share with you with all pleasure the making of this beautiful bag and purse I made for my friend in church who is a nursing mother.

Mummy faith as we use to call her has been a friend of mine since I joined the church where I fellowship, as you all know through my previous post, I have made a lot of bag, pouch and other useful items with fabric which I take some to church like bags, Bible cover and so on, most people admired my creativity and wanted me to make something nice for them, the one that captivated them most was the bag I made with a matching fabric from our choir anniversary material, since then mummy faith requested that I make her a big bag that she can use to carry her baby's things to church, you know how this nursing mothers can be with a lot of things in their bag for the baby, I agreed and luckily enough, she brought this particular material for me to use as it is very durable and can tire easily, her complain from the previous bags she has gotten is that they tire easily and are equally expensive, I think with this, she can use it for a longer time.

I started by making the purse last week before I proceeded to the making of the main bag. Though the purse I made is just to make it look like the designers bags out there and this serves as a bonus to her 😃

let's get started with the cutting and sewing process.

I measured and cut out 2 pieces of 16 x 11" from the main fabric with interfacing.

Another pieces of 16 x 4" was measured and cut out in 2 places with interfacing as well

For the handle, 2 pieces of 26 x 4" was cut out from the main fabric.

Sewing process

The handle was taken to the sewing machine as it was folded to the middle on both sides and folded in half before it was sewn on both sides

I took the bigger size of the main fabric, locate the mid point and measured 2.5" away on both sides, then I sew the handle on it, it was repeated on the other one as well.

The 16 x 10" was placed on the edge and sewn together then it was top stitched on the right side.

On the handle, I marked 1.5" and I sew an X on it just to make it firm.

It was placed on a lining to cut out same shape and the lining was sewn to it with the zipper in between.

It was top stitched on the right side and the same process was repeated on the other side.

I placed the main fabric to main fabric and lining to lining as I sew on it round leaving an opening on the lining where it can be turned inside out.

At the base, I measured and cut out 1.5" on both lining and main fabric just as seen below

It was sewn together and turned inside out.

The opening was sewn close and it was turned to the right side.

This is the final and beautiful outcome of the customized bag I made for my friend with matching purse. I'm sure she will be so surprised and happy to have this.
