Another nostalgic post from me for today's @needlworkmonday post hosted by @crosheille.
Several years ago a friend of mine bought the cutest little Shasta camper. It was when I was full on making embroidered gifts for just about anyone for anything!
In hindsight, I wish I'd have used a sturdier fabric as this light cotton tended to pull and I had to be careful not to pull my stitches too tight.
My lines are not straight, and my sketch (as always) was lacking, but I find once you start filling spaces in, it sort of comes together.
With this piece I was trying very hard to be sure the back was not a mess. I was not planning to put a backing on it. Not to toot my own horn but this was by far the cleanest piece I had done!
As you can see, my little 'travel kit' is a mess, so 'TIDY' is NOT my middle name! haha
There were a lot of stitches, in the end, so it was maybe not as clean as it could've been. But it's a handmade gift, so I knew it wouldn't really matter to my friend.
And the finished product came out SO CUTE! (I think)
Sadly, my friend decided to sell her cute little camper this past summer. She said they hardly got to use it and thought it silly to keep it. They sold it, actually, to another mutual friend of ours. I asked her if she kept the gift or if it was part of the camper.
She said, 'Of course I kept it!!'

This is really beautiful 😂 I know this ride here in my town 😂
Thank you! A lot of caravans where you live?
Super cute. Great needlework and I love the fabric you used.
Thank you! The interior of her camper was yellow so it made sense. It was just a little tricky to work with.
On the journey the forest sounds most beautiful. !PIZZA for you

these are very cute embroidery!!! especially for your girlfriend is not only a memory of you but also of her former property. such signs of attention from friends are always very valuable!
Thank you! I love handmade gifts so I tend to give them out as well. No one is ever disappointed by a thoughtful gift, I think.
It's right!!!! 😃
I really like how many different stitches (or stitching-patterns) you used, I think that really fits into the camper theme:) it looks lovely!!
Oh thanks! I have a few stitches I Love to do so I tend to stick to those, but I guess I also like to throw in as many as I can per project! ;)
Awesome! I understand that the fabric made the whole project more difficult, but I can understand why you chose it, super cute! I LOVE the van! Wonderful!
Thank you for your kind words! It's nice when others can see your 'vision' ;)
Oh yes :)

Ah, that is so lovely 😍
I like the design, it has a kind of retro feel, especially with the colours of the threads and the backing cotton. The stitching looks great. Your travelling kit looks like the kind I would love to explore when I was little (and now, too, truth to tell) 😂.
Thank you!
Yeah, a few colors, some tiny scissors and a few needles! Plus some scraps and small hoops! I just need to get a set of 'readers' to stash in that box now too! haha...ugh
Oh, that's a good idea!
I've just bought one of those crafting/reading lights you can position around your neck. It's flexible and folds up quite small, so easy for packing. It would be good if it came with a little bag, but I expect I can make one of those.
ooh! I need to get a light! Which I've been saying for years! haah
the camper turned out great. And it seems that your friend really appreciated your gift.
Beautiful work 😍💜 it's amazing
