Hi guys!!

A few weeks ago it was my best friend Lau's wedding, and I knew she had to make the outfit myself.

Hace unas semanas fue la boda de mi mejor amiga Lau, y supe que tenia que hacerme el atuendo yo misma.

The etiquette for the event was "Formal", and it was going to be in a garden in the evening but knowing that some people sometimes have their own interpretation of "Formal", I decided to speak with the bride to choose my dress.

La etiqueta para el evento era "Formal", e iba a ser en un jardin en la tarde-noche pero conociendo que algunas personas a veces tienen su propia interpretación de "Formal", decidí hablar con la novia para escoger mi vestido.

I gave her two options... The first was because I had the skirt in the picture and I wanted to make a blouse like the other picture.

Le dí dos opciones... La primera era porque tenía la falda de la imagen y quería hacerme una blusa como la otra imagen.

But the second option was a dress that I saw in an episode of Modern Family. Mitch and Cam's wedding episode. I hardly saw the dress of ME ENAMORÉ.

Pero la segunda opción era un vestido que vi en un capitulo de Modern Family. El capitulo de la boda de Mitch y Cam. A penas vi el vestido de ME ENAMORÉ.

The bride chose the second chose the second. So I started designing the dress to suit my taste. I made the patterns (which took a lot longer than I thought) and then bought the fabric. What is this:

La novia escogio el segundo escogio el segundo. Así que empecé a diseñar el vestido para adaptarlo a mi gusto. Hice los patrones (los cuales me tomarón muchisimo más de lo que pensé) y luego compre la tela. Que es esta:

Among the modifications I made to the original design is that I closed the back. It's not in my nature to show so much skin lol. Also change the neckline. The original was a crumple and I decided to change it to closed planks (I call them that because they are sewn along the plank).

Yes indeed! The amount of ironing I did for this dress was nothing normal!! For the lining, for the neckline and for the skirt. Incredible.

Entre las modificaciones que le hice al diseño original estan que cerré la espalda. No esté en mi naturaleza mostrar tanta piel jajaja. También cambie el escote. El original era un arruchado y yo decidí cambiarlo a unos tablones cerrados (los llamo así porque estan cosidos a lo largo de la tabla). Eso sí! La cantidad de planchado que hice para este vestido no fue nada normal!! Para el forro, para la el escote y para la falda. Increible.

The original had a leather waistband. I made it out of faux leather and used it on the shoulders as well (as shown in the photo above).

El original tenia la pretina de cuero. Yo lo hice de cuero artificial y lo usé también en los hombros (como se muestra en la foto de arriba).

The skirt originally has a series of very subtle pleats. Instead, I did four boards, two forward and two back. About 6 centimeters (12 in total), giving a perfect amount of volume to the skirt. If it was standing it looks like a very elegant column skirt but it allows movement.

La falda originalmente tiene una serie de plizados muy sutiles. Yo en cambio, hice cuatro tablas, dos adelante y dos atrás. De unos 6 centimetros (12 en total), dando una cantidad de volumen perfecta a la falda. Si estaba parada parece una falda columna muy elegante pero permite movimiento.

Now, it comes the fails!!!

I forgot to buy the lining fabric, so I had to use satin I had at home. But since I made a mistake cutting, I had to cut it again but now in a blue color because I no longer had black. And I didn't even have enough for the whole top so I had to use dark blue for the front and lighter blue for the back lol.

También se me quemó el forro con la plancha. Fue horrible porque ni siquiera fue el primero que me quedó mal sino el que tuve que usar. Lo bueno fue que era el forro, una pieza que nadie ve.

Ahora, vienen los fails!
Se me olvidó comprar la tela del forro, así que tuve que usar un raso que tenía en casa. Pero como me equivoque cortando, tuve que volver a cortarlo pero ahora en un color azul porque ya no me quedaba negro. Y ni siquiera tenía suficiente para todo el top así que tuve que usar azul oscuro para el frente y azul más claro atras jajaja.
I also burned the lining with the iron. It was horrible because it wasn't even the first one that looked bad on me but the one I had to use. The good thing was that it was the lining, a piece that nobody sees.
