[ENG-ESP] How to seam rip without dying trying (or spending 4 hours doing it) - Cómo descoser sin morir en el intento (o pasar 4 horas haciéndolo) - (tutorial)

Hi guys...

I know that it is a taboo subject in the world of sewing and that nobody likes to admit they are wrong, but IT HAPPENS TO ALL OF US. Most of the time I spend sewing, more time unstitching than in front of the machine.

Hola chicos...

I don't know if the same thing happens to you but I'm very clumpsy. Sometimes I sew one of the pieces backwards, or I just messed up when sewing and caught a small part of the garment.

Learning to sew, I would spend hours ripping seam by seam. I met expert seamstresses who told me "but pluck the thread". I always thought that having a homemade machine was not possible, that this trick only worked for industrial machines. I couldn't be more wrong. At first I only tried with the Overlock but then I started doing it with the home sewing machine and it has changed my life. Instead of learning to be less careless and much more careful when sewing, I learned to unsew in a fraction of the time.

Some considerations must be taken before using this method:

1.Not every time is recommended. There are fabrics that are very delicate and can be mistreated to the point of being unusable.

  1. If the tension of the machine is out of adjustment, it will not work. Because the threads will not have the proper tension.
  2. There will be times where it just won't work and you'll have to unpick the old fashioned way.

Steps

  1. Identify the thread to pull: in almost all machines you have to pull the bottom thread, but there are some that are the other (in the case of my machine).

I know the fabric is dirty (sorry) - Sé que la tela esta sucia (lo siento)

2.Break the seam in one place and use it to undo.

2.jpg

3.Pull the thread: you have to pull the thread a little and start moving the fabric along the thread, running it in the opposite direction from which we are pulling.

4.The point where it gets stuck may come: we will have to cut at that point and start over.

Pasos

For Overlock/Serger

It is practically the same. The only difference is that you have to undo the bottom loop thread.

And that's it. Imagine how long it would have taken to unsew long pieces, now it will only take a few minutes.

Tell me in the comments what you think. And how did you put it into practice?

Me: hopping up and down very excited. I did not knew this!!! I often sew with knit fabric on an overlocker and I never managed to unpick the stitches. Most time I cut away the seam (not a very practical way to do it). I absolutely must try this. Thank you for this tip!!!

I sew a lot of swimwear fabric and knits and I always do this! If the threat doesn't work, try another one

Will do. But as I am working on a tight schedule right now I cross my fingers I don’t need to unpick anything :-D

Tell me if it works!
