[ENG - ESP] Embroidery Fruit - Fruta Bordada (Contest Needle Work Your Season)

I wanted to participate in the contest, but the truth is that I live in Venezuela. And in my country there are no seasons but periods of rain and periods of less rain, which this year have been more than rare because one no longer knows which is one or which is the other.

In Venezuela it is sometimes difficult to see the stations like in other countries. It does not change the foliage, there is no snow. There is a fruit season, and the most visible is the mango season because in Caracas, which is where I live, the city is full of mangoes everywhere. On the street, at home, in the markets, etc... It's incredible how everything is crowded. And it's a shame I can't enjoy it because I hate mangoes but… even though it would have been an amazing season to show, it's not mango season. But what is in season is Milky! Or papaya as they call it in other countries.

So since this is the Caribbean here and that means the land of eternal summer, so I preferred to show something natural that occurs in my country at this time of year. Caribbean doesn't really mean that, but etymologically it comes from the pre-Columbian people who lived in the Caribbean Sea, but let's pretend that it does mean summer.

Quise participar en el concurso, pero la verdad es que vivo en Venezuela. Y en mi país no hay estaciones sino periodos de lluvia y periodos de menos lluvia, los que este año han sido más que raro porque uno ya ni sabe cual es uno o cual es otro.
En Venezuela a veces es difícil ver las estaciones como en otros países. No cambia el follaje, no hay nieve. Hay temporada de frutas, y la más visible es la de la temporada de mango porque en Caracas que es donde vivo, la ciudad se llena de mangos por todos lados. En la calle, en las casa, los mercados, etc… Es increíble como se llena todo. Y es una lastima que no pueda disfrutarlo porque odio los mangos pero… aunque hubiese sido una temporada increíble para mostrar, no es temporada de mangos. Pero lo que si es temporada es de ¡Lechosa! O papaya como le dicen en otros países.
Así que como aquí esto es el caribe y eso significa la tierra del eterno verano, así que preferí mostrar algo natural que se da en mi país en esta época del año. Realmente caribe no significa eso, sino que etimológicamente viene del pueblo precolombino que vivía en el mar caribe, pero finjamos que si significa verano.

For this reason, I made a milky embroidery to show you what the season was in my country and my city. The temperature in this month is almost always around 25 degrees so it is not very cold.

Just a little rain. Maybe that's why it's milky season hahahaha.

This was the process: almost all the fruit was made with satin stitch.

Por eso, hice una lechosa bordada para mostrarles cual era la estación en mi país y mi ciudad. La temperatura en este mes ronda casi siempre los 25 grados así que mucho frio no hace. Solo un poquito de lluvia. Tal vez por eso es que es la temporada de lechosas hahahaha.
Este fue el proceso: casi toda la fruta la hice con puntada satín.

I made the shell with Satin Stitch with this thread that changes color, from yellow to green. It's amazing for embroidering things that have surfaces that aren't all an exact color. Although it can be a little tricky to get this yarn in the shades you need.

La cascara la hice con Puntada Satín con este hilo que cambia de color, de amarillo a verde. Es increíble para bordar cosas que tienen superficies que no son todas de un color exacto. Aunque puede ser un poquito complicado conseguir este hilo de las tonalidades que necesitas.

I made the pulp of this orange in a tone very similar to the color of the milky pulp. Like the previous step, I did it with satin stitch. But it is much neater so that it has that soft aspect, almost reflecting the light

La pulpa la hice de este naranja en un tono muy parecido al color de la pulpa de la lechosa. Igual que el paso anterior, la hice con puntada satín. Pero esta mucho más prolija para que tuviese ese aspecto suave, casi que refleje la luz.

Instead, the center seeds were made with French Point Stitch. I did almost all of them in brown in different sizes to give it reality and since it looked a bit lifeless, I put a few burgundy stitches to give it dimension.

En cambio, las semillas del centro las hice con Puntada de Punto Frances. Las hice casi todas en color marrón de diferentes tamaños para darle realidad y como se veía un poco sin vida, le puse unas cuantas puntadas en color Vinotinto para darle dimensión.

This is the final result. The truth is that I am very happy with how it turned out, I like to see my progress in embroidery because before it was a disaster. I was about to post something Christmas but since it was the season, it was clearly talking about the weather or the changes in nature between seasons like spring, summer, autumn or winter. So I hope you like it.

Este es el resultado final. La verdad es que estoy muy contenta con como quedo, me gusta ver mi progreso en el bordado porque antes era un desastre. Estuve a punto de publicar algo navideño pero al ser estación, claramente hablaba del clima o los cambios de la naturaleza entre estaciones como la primavera, verano, otoño o invierno. Así que espero que les guste.
