Hello needleworkers..

How's the new week going? Walk with me while I take you through the process of making this two piece for Dinma.

She sent me a picture on WhatsApp asking me to recreate the style. The original style was made with An African print but she brought in this Adire (tie dye) to replicate the style.

I went to work immediately. I drafted the trouser and the scope of achieving this kind of trousers is by added excess allowance to the hip and waist so the elastic becomes fuller

For the trousers, I drafted using her hip, waist circumference and trousers length to achieve as seen on the picture.

For the upper part, I also drafted the bodice using her bust circumference and blouse length. I added six inches to her normal bust and waist circumference so it becomes freer too.

Moving on to the sewing part after drafting.

The first thing I did was to join each of the trouser seam together, then I moved to the elastic part.

For the elastic, I cut the band as wide as the trouser waist but reduced the elastic with about four inches from her initial waist circumference.

After making the elastic band, this was what it looked like. I attached it to the waist of the trouser.

Then I moved sewing the upper body sloper. I joined shoulder to shoulder, sewed the side seam and hem the blouse length.

On the neck, I added a band of about two inches around the neckline.

Here's what the full outfit look like after sewing. It came out so beautifully.

I took me four hours to draft, cut and sew.

I quickly moved to another project which I can't wait to share with you all.
