Hello friends, I wanted to participate in the #NEEDLEWORKYOURPET contest, so today I made a skirt and hat set for my dog Almendra, unfortunately I see that the contest ended yesterday hahaha 🤦♀️😅, but it doesn't matter, I still want to share this project with you, and I also want Let them know a little about the history of Almendra.
This little dog that you see here, all beautiful, plump, smiling and with a family, one day belonged to the street. The story begins on a July day in 2021; When this dog arrived at our house, she was in very bad condition, she was extremely thin, her ribs were visible! He was so thin that he managed to pass through the bars of the gate of our house. In addition, he had a lot of scabies, he had almost no hair from the infection that was on his skin. Despite her poor condition and being invisible to other people, my husband and I decided to adopt her. At that very moment we covered the gate bars so she wouldn't escape, since she was scared and also because the condominium of the urbanization wanted throw out the poor animal for being “unhealthy.” At that time we were newly married and wanted to adopt a pet, so we decided that the dog would be called Almendra and that from that moment on she would be part of our family.
We believe that Almendra was tied up in some house, we came to this conclusion, because the majority of the dogs that are found wandering the streets of the area where we live are in good condition, since in this area of the city there are foundations and neighbors that They care about giving these street animals something to eat, they even sterilize and deworm them. Perhaps it was a cruel owner who kept her in extreme conditions. However, despite her past, today she is happy and content with us.
Holaaa amigos, quise participar en el concurso #NEEDLEWORKYOURPET, así que hoy le hice un conjunto de falda y gorro a mi perrita Almendra, lamentablemente veo que el concurso finalizaba ayer jajajaja 🤦♀️😅, pero no importa, igual quiero compartir este proyecto con ustedes, además quiero que conozcan un poco de la historia de Almendra.
Esta perrita que ven aquí toda hermosa, regordeta, risueña y con una familia, un día perteneció a la calle. La historia comienza un día de julio del año 2021; cuando esta perrita llegó a nuestra casa, estaba en muy malas condiciones, estaba extremadamente delgada, ¡se le veían las costillas! Era tanto su delgadez que logro pasar por las rejas del portón de nuestra casa. Además, tenía mucha sarna, casi no tenía pelo de la infección que había en su piel. A pesar de su mal estado y de ser invisible a las demás personas, mi esposo y yo decidimos adoptarla, en ese mismo instante tapamos las rejas del portón para que no se escapara, ya que estaba asustada y también porque el condominio de la urbanización quería echar al pobre animal por ser “insalubre”. En ese momento estábamos recién casados y queríamos adoptar una mascota, así que decidimos que aquella perrita se llamaría Almendra y que desde ese momento formaría parte de nuestra familia.
Creemos que Almendra estaba en alguna casa amarrada, llegamos a esta conclusión, porque la mayoría de los perros que se encuentran deambulando por las calles de el sector donde vivimos están en buen estado, ya que por esta zona de la ciudad hay fundaciones y vecinos que se preocupan por darles algo de comer a estos animales de la calle, hasta los esterilizan y desparasitan. Quizá se haya tratado de un cruel dueño que la tenía en condiciones extremas. Sin embargo, a pesar de su pasado hoy se encuentra feliz y contenta con nosotros.

Ahora sí, les traigo el tutorial del conjunto de Almendra. Los materiales que usé fueron los siguientes:

First, I cut two rectangles of the jean fabric, with the ruler I marked some points that had a separation of 6 cm between them, to make some boards for Almendra's skirt, I did this to both rectangles of fabric.
Primero, corté dos rectángulos de la tela de jean, con la regla marqué unos puntos que tenían una separación entre ellos de 6 cm, para hacer unas tablas a la falda de Almendra, esto lo hice a ambos rectángulos de tela.
As a second step, I started making the boards, folding the fabric at each mark, securing each board with pins so they wouldn't move. I then manually sewed a straight seam across the top of the boards to secure them in place. Then I proceeded to join the two rectangles with the ready boards.
Como segundo paso, comencé a hacer las tablas, doblé la tela en cada marca, aseguré cada tabla con alfileres para que no se movieran. Luego, hice manualmente una costura recta por la parte superior de las tablas para fijarlas en su lugar. Después procedí a unir los dos rectángulos con las tablas ya listas.
To finish with the skirt, I added an elastic to make it easier for Almendra to put it on. I attached each end of the elastic to each upper end of the skirt.
Para finalizar con la falda le coloqué una elástica para colocársela a Almendra de forma más sencilla, cada punta de la elástica la fijé a cada extremo superior de la falda.
For the hat, I cut a piece of the jean fabric in a circular shape, I also cut a long strip of about 50 cm. Then, I made some boards for what would be the wings of the hat, fixed them with pins, then I started sewing, finally I sewed two braids on each end to tie the hat to Almendra. I had a brooch, but I realized it was too big to put on my hat, so that's why I decided on braids.
Para el gorro, corté de forma circular un retazo de la tela de jean, también corté una tira larga como de 50 cm. Luego, le hice unas tablas a lo que sería las alas del gorro, las fijé con alfileres, luego comencé a coser, finalmente le cosí dos trenzas en cada extremo para amarrar el gorrito a Almendra. Tenía un broche, pero me di cuenta de que era muyyy grande para colocárselo en el gorro, así que por eso me decidí por las trenzas.

Es una bonita historia que buen corazón tuvieron de no echarla a la calle, no todos hacen eso, así tengan como ayudarlos, solo los maltratan, sin imaginar que uno nunca sabe, si un día pudiera estar en esa condición por cruel, tal vez no por falta de dinero, pero si por una enfermedad, y que todos lo desprecien debe ser terrible. Hace unos meses vi un perrito amarrado en la puerta de una casa, que me partió el corazón, porque el pobre no tenía alimento ni agua, estaba al borde de la muerte, yo no podía con ese sentimiento de impotencia, vi un señor salir de esa casa y pasarle, por un lado, como si el pobre perrito no estuviera allí, y no me aguante y salí corriendo abordar aquel señor, pero lamentablemente se subió rápido a su carro y salió, yo no me aguante y quise llevarle agua y algo de pan,😌, pero lamentablemente no me dejaron por seguridad. Me sentí terrible y me fui llorando.😢
Es difícil salvar a todos los animalitos que vemos en la calle, es una sensación de tristeza y frustración, me ha pasado muchas veces lo mismo que a ti 😓 y es cierto, llegamos a nuestra casa destrozados. Pero no te sientas mal, podemos ayudar instruyendo a las personas para que traten mejor a sus animales, hay mucha ignorancia en las personas y una muestra de amor de nuestra parte es hacerles ver a las personas lo que puede llegar a sentir un animalito, también podemos donar medicinas o alimento a fundaciones cercanas a nuestro sector, así sea poco ellos lo apreciaran muchísimo ❤️
