Precious Civil Wedding Dress

in NeedleWorkMondaylast month

Happy #NeedleWorkMonday, everyone!

I am absolutely thrilled to finally share the finished project of a gorgeous outfit for my best friend’s civil wedding! This was such a personal and exciting project, and I couldn't wait to see her wear it.

Below, you’ll find the inspiration photo and the final result. I'd love to know what you think of it.

The process was a bit of a challenge! I started this dress late and ended up sewing mostly at night.
Why? Because I needed consistent electricity for ironing, a vital step I couldn't skip! Because of the late hours, I wasn't able to take as many pictures of the early steps as I would have liked, but I captured the most important stages.

The front panel without the yoke and cape

The cape

The back pieces

Here, I have gone ahead to attach the cape to the front pieces and also fixed the yoke. (I put into consideration the adjustments she asked for during her fittings session from my previous post:

After checking all the adjustments, I sewed the front and back panels together.

The back was my own creative touch! Since I couldn't see the back of the inspiration dress, I had to design my preferred look. I decided to keep the cape from extending to the back because I already planned a clean keyhole style line there. Finishing the cape neatly into the armhole allowed the back of the dress to stay sleek and focused on that keyhole detail, I didn't want too much going on at once!

And Here's the finished dress

After all the late nights and making sure I included all the tiny adjustments she requested, the dress was finally complete!

I am so happy to say she absolutely loved the dress! Seeing her happy and appreciating the work I put in made every minute worth it. It was an honour to create this special outfit for her big day!
