Family of swans

in WE ARE MOVING3 years ago

Young animals always have something cute. I ran into this family with young swans past spring in the park near my home. As always with young animals you have to be bit careful not to come too close. As the big swans can be defensive and they're pretty impressive when attacking. And why should you provoke them? You can enjoy watching them from a distance.

Fortunately I brought the long lens with me, so I was still able to get them up close in my photo's. It's hard to guess but I think the young birds are about two weeks old here. This year I will return and hopefully I'm able to capture them with my camera when they are even a bit younger while the mother Swan is still carrying them upon her back, safe between her strong wings.

Hope you had a great weekend and enjoyed this little series of swans.

Cheers,
Thijs

So freaking adorable!

They’re so fluffy and cute! Can’t wait to see them again this year!

Amazing snaps! I love how they are so beautiful they barely look real. Nature's perfect oil painting... Thank you for sharing these!

Thank you very much!☺️ They really are so fluffy in their first few weeks they almost look unreal… Thanks for the kind words!🙏

We appreciate your work and your post has been manually curated by zoology team (oscurity, nelinoeva) on behalf of Amazing Nature Community. Keep up the good work!

Thank you very much zoology team! (@oscurity @nelinoeva) ☺️🙏

These snaps look too good to be true. Amazing work 🥃

Thank you very much!☺️🙏

You are welcome ♥️

I've spotted a second lovely post;)
Awesome photos 🙌
Swans are nice to admire from a distance.
I live on a narrowboat in the UK, and the swans can be intimidating because of how territorial they are. It's always delightful to see how elegant they move along the canals though;)

Thank you very much!☺️ Swans are really majestic animals! How nice would that be living on a boat and seeing them that many times! Must be really great!😀👍

It's an awesome way to live! I've learned so much about waterfowls over the last 10 months that I've been living this way.
My wish to live on a boat started when I lived in the Netherlands 14 years ago. My husband and I finally got to do it. It's a narrowboat, the UK's version, but I absolutely love dutch barges too:)

It must be really great living on a boat. In the Netherlands is quite common as you might have noticed. All sorts of floating houses. So cool to hear that it inspired your wishes.

Oh, yes! The Dutch do boat living perfectly😁
Have a lovely evening:)

Haha, I guess they do. Thank you, same to you!

Totally cute and very well captured!
It looks like you had a very long lens with you, the close shots are really impressive.

Thank you very much! Yes, I believe it was 400mm 😅

we don't have wild swans here in bali. most of them are domesticated. I always scared of them, because I was attacked once during my junior high school time. They pack a great punch behind that beautiful faces.

Your photos are really awesome. love the reflection of the young swans on the water.

Thank you very much! Ouch, that sounds bad. I know they can deliver quite some hard punches. Fortunately I never had to experience that. 😅

The pictures looking super smooth. You used a 400mm lens? As i have read it in the comments already. What camera did you use? I can not see any noise in the darker areas. That is really nice!

Thanks a lot! I used the Canon 6Dmk2 with 70-200mm f2.8 + 2x extender to get to 400mm f5.6. I increased the blacks and the contrast a bit in post to add that little extra “pop” 😉
