There is an abundance of wildlife to see on the prairie, coyotes included. I have a great vantage point to watch and photograph them because of the coulees all around me. I was watching this lone coyote running through the top of the valley. There was also a family of deer watching him, following at a safe distance.
He looks quite different in this side view. A little mangey...still shedding a winter coat perhaps. We hear the coyotes more often than we see them. Their howling echos through the valley when they communicate with each other. Its easy to distinguish the pups when they join in ....it's so cute 😁
The alpha female deer has her eye on that coyote, ready to alert her family if she senses danger. The family of deer were a couple hundred feet behind the coyote. There are so many deer in the area. Its not uncommon to see them daily in the yard, sometimes helping themselves to the goodies in the garden lol
These are the family of deer trailing the alpha female. They followed fairly close, about 50 feet. I did not see any fawns with this group, possibly because of the coyote! I did manage to get a couple of pics of a mama and her fawn in the yard though :)
I took this photo on a different day than the first 2 pics of the other deer family. The mama spotted me instantly, I was lucky to get a couple snaps in before they left.
And there they go!! Waving her tail, a tell-tale sign of whitetail deer.
Beautiful little baby and her ever protective mama ❤️

Dear @sssandra, we need your help!
The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago when the HBD stabilizer proposal rose above it.
May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work?
