Hi my dear friends!
There are many wild apple trees in our South Ural forests. In the spring, their flowering pleases. Beautiful fruits delight in autumn.
Once while walking we smelled a strong apple smell. We plucked one apple and took a bite of it. It is firm but sweet. We filled our pockets with as many apples as we could.
Next time we decided to dial more if we find it. "Somewhere in the woods" is a vague landmark. While another time we were looking for this apple tree, we tried other apples that came across. I photographed the most interesting ones.
... ... ...
These are small yellow apples. They look interesting.
But their looks are deceiving. They are tough and sour, although they look sweet, sugar.
... ... ...
Red and yellow apples. The most common forest ones.
Also small, hard, sour-bitter.
... ... ...
At first, these fruits seemed to us to be a curiosity in the Ural forests - a red plum.
But these are also apples. Pretty big. The color is slightly purple, as if with a bluish tinge. If you rub, the plaque is erased.
At home, the apples lay down and darkened. They do not dry out from storage in a warm place, but they do not become sweeter either.
... ... ...
We smelled an apple tree with "white", or rather pale yellow fruits.
We walked, walked along the usual paths, and suddenly from somewhere there was a strong smell of apples. We walk along these paths all the time. There were mushrooms here, I remember that. And for some reason we did not notice apples. This day was hot, aromatic oils were released actively.
The apples were large and tasty. They are not very hard, rather sweet. Not like the southern ones, of course. Let me remind you that we are talking about Russia, the South Urals. Our climate is not the warmest. But not the coldest either.
At home, we just ate these apples. They were not used either for compote or for charlotte.
... ... ...
And already at the exit from the forest, tired of searching, we came across the first apple tree. I was sure I had photographed the apples, but I couldn't find a photo.
They are slightly smaller in size than the "white" ones I mentioned earlier. They are similar in color to the small yellow ones that I showed at the beginning of the post. The fruit is quite dense and firm. Not as sweet at first as the "white" ones, but when they lay warm at home, they became sweet, but wrinkled.
Their feature, in addition to the incredible smell, was a waxy coating on the fruits. It is slightly sticky and scratches off. It is enough to touch the apples with your hands, and your hands will smell as if you were using an apple-scented perfume. The aroma is persistent.
... ... ...
Of course, there are many more sour green apples in the forest than such sweet ones. But we were happy to bring home a whole bag of loot.
Next year we will go for apples again! :-)))))
