Let’s start my story:
It was a warm day in May 2019. We were visiting the French Caribbean Island of Guadeloupe.
For anyone that doesn’t know Guadeloupe 🇬🇵 the shape is like a butterfly.
Have a look on the map.
You can see we have been in many locations, not all are marked 😉 like the rainforest and most inland places.
Here you find it’s location in the Caribbean Sea. See the little hearts 💕
As we are exploring the island, we reached a little fishing village and it’s Port.
We got out of our car and walked along the waterside. Taking in the scenery and everything around us.
In the distance we see some fishing boats coming in.
But suddenly I noticed in the water, ONE OF MY FAVORITE BIRDS: PELICANS
A few were flying over and some in the water.
Aren’t they beautiful… 🥰
I see they are following one of the little fishing boats. Other birds are also flying over and gathering.
They flock close by on and around the empty little colourful boats.
Looking at me what I am doing. See those little feathers sticking out at his head… so cute.
I see also different kinds of Pelicans. All are observing the little fishing boat that just came in.
Look, they got a few crates of fish 🐟
And what do I see… a really long fish in the back of the boat.
One of the Pelicans landed on the side of the boat.
It’s looking closely at the long Fish 😎
The fishermen are busy sorting out the fish and their nets.
Look: the Pelican is reaching for the fish… 🤓
But it got startled by another Pelican that just landed on the edge of the boat next to it.
Look at the first Pelicans eyes 😬
The second Pelican is reaching over,
is he grabbing the Fish…
In just that moment the fishermen Notice and wave them away from their boat.
Aaawwwwww!
The 2 Pelicans didn’t get the fish. It happened all so fast and I was also closely observing and forgot to take more photos. 😇
They gathered on some other empty boats around us, the fishermen are emptying their catch.
Look at their little faces… the looks… they are disappointed. Maybe THEY ARE LUCKY NEXT TIME!
This one gave me a certain look hahahaha
But, it wasn’t me dear Mr. Pelican. I would have given the fish to you. 😋
We walked a little further.
I look one more time back to the Pelican on the little boats roof:
He looks defeated. And starts cleaning it’s feathers.
We leave the port and fishing village to go to our destination.
Just to make sure one of the photos in this post has a bird with a fish in it’s beak, I captured this photo a few days later while exploring the Island of Guadeloupe further 😉
That’s all for today’s entry into the contest 😎 hope you enjoyed my post and had a laugh at my Story.
Thank you so much for looking, reading and supporting me. And if you liked my post, an upvote or re-blog is always welcome 🙏🏻
