If Mythology made the dragon, the guardian par excellence of the earth's treasures - and if not, ask the famous Smaug, by Tolkien - he was not far behind when he turned the beautiful peacock into the guardian of divine infidelities.
It matters little, deep down, if the Romans devoted him to the attention of the jealous Juno and the Greeks to her homonymous and no less jealous Hera: in both cases, the noble animal assumed the function of annoying guardian of promiscuous husbands.
With the passing of time and promiscuity accepted as a real benefit, the custom was transferred to the Cortes, where the peacock left its old functions of snitch, to become a subject of gardens, being relegated to the miserable category of exotic element decorative.
A custom that still remains in force in some modern gardens, which participate in the old royal current of seeing in them a whim for their particular enjoyment, where luxury and details were specially cared for.

Is it a national garden? It is interesting to see peacocks around.
It is a very special garden that is located within the Retiro Park, in Madrid, with a superb colony of peacocks and its doors are open to everyone.
Awesome colourful birds.
They really are, buddy. Thanks for your comment.
