(ENG/ESP) The story of a horse named Tommy / La historia de un caballo llamado Tommy

Today I want to introduce you to a friend I met when I was in Temuco, in one of the many fields in the araucania region (the land of resistance). He is a horse named Tommy, he is 24 years old and spent most of his life working in the fields, helping to plow the land. However, when he got old, the landowners decided to keep him as a pet. It was not difficult to get fond of him, Tommy is very polite, sociable and cheerful.

Hoy les quiero presentar a un amigo que conocí cuando estuve en Temuco, en uno de tantos terrenos de la región de la araucania (la tierra de la resistencia). Se trata de un caballo llamado Tommy, tiene 24 años y pasó gran parte de su vida trabajando en el campo, ayudando a arar la tierra. No obstante, al hacerse viejo, los terratenientes decidieron conservarlo como una mascota. No fue dificil tomarle cariño, Tommy es muy educado, sociable y alegre.

Tommy is very used to interacting with humans and is not aggressive at all. In fact, he often makes gestures similar to what could be a kiss, hahaha.

Tommy está muy acostumbrado a interactuar con los humanos y no es para nada agresivo. De hecho, suele hacer gestos similares a lo que podría ser un beso, jajajá.

He is in very good shape and has a beautiful uniform brown coat that makes him camouflage with the grass that abounds in the terrain.

Está en muy buena forma y tiene un hermoso pelaje marrón uniforme que lo hace camuflarse con el pasto que abunda en el terreno.

At the ends of its hind legs it has white spots that make it very peculiar.

En los extremos de sus patas traseras tiene unas manchas blancas que lo hacen muy peculiar.

Besides grass, he loves to eat apples. He has very marked jaw muscles and beautiful eyes. He is a beautiful specimen.

Además de pasto, le encanta comer manzanas. Tiene los musculos de las mandibulas muy marcados y unos ojos preciosos. Es un hermoso ejemplar.

I must confess that for most of my life, horses caused me fear because of their large size and the risk they could sometimes represent; but I learned that a free horse, well treated, is not aggressive unless it feels threatened. I discovered with Tommy, that horses are very intelligent and sensitive beings, with an incredible capacity to communicate and learn new things.

Debo confesar que durante gran parte de mi vida, los caballos me causaban miedo por su gran tamaño y el riesgo que podían representar en algunas ocasiones; pero aprendí que un caballo libre, bien tratado, no es agresivo a menos de que se sienta amenazado. Descrubí con Tommy, que los caballos son seres muy inteligentes y sensibles, con una capacidad increíble de comunicarse y aprender cosas nuevas.
