Freshwater Turtles in the Wild

in WE ARE MOVING7 months ago (edited)

Hello Nature Enthusiasts,

Today I want to show you some pictures of these Beautiful Freshwater Turtles, in the Hyogo Prefectural Arimafuji Park.

We had a 1-hour bike ride and then a further 30-minute walk to get to this lake. It wasn’t enjoyable since we had the sun burning us. I last saw freshwater crocodiles when I was 10 years old in Germany. I see plenty of saltwater turtles, but they are so different. You can’t even compare.

I did not expect to see any turtles today; we only wanted to take some photos with a Canon Kiss x8i. But we stumbled upon these beautiful creatures. They wouldn’t cut the grass in the park today, so I apologise for the untidy background.

Turtles are truly fascinating; they live for such a long time and can easily outlive us humans. I truly wonder what they think; they are not dumb creatures.

I prefer seeing animals in the wild. After seeing animals in captivity in South Asian countries, I’ve told myself never to go to zoos or wildlife parks. Seeing any animal in the wild brings joy. We are free, and so should the animals.

Freshwater turtles have a big difference compared to saltwater turtles, the most noticeable one being their shell. Freshwater turtles have a much more rounded shell. It is common sense since saltwater turtles need to be quick and therefore have a more streamlined body shape to swim quickly and escape predators.

Same, wild animals act differently without human care. It's good to see turtles in the wild. Nice chance to get those pictures.
