Welcome Dear Photography Lovers

It's almost a year ago that I took these pictures, last September to be more exact. I was spending some wonderful vacation days with my family in Margarita Island, Venezuela. While we were walking around the Costa Azul shopping mall, I discovered that they had a bonsai exhibition, of course, I couldn't help myself and while my daughters and hubby continued their tour, I stopped and took the opportunity to take a few pictures.

As you can see in some of the images, I share with you, this plant has a significantly thick trunk compared to its thin branches, this can measure up to 2 meters in diameter. This peculiarity is due to the fact that being a succulent plant, the trunk is where it keeps its water reserves, which are precisely those that allow it to survive long periods of drought that characterize its natural habitat.

It is a slow growing plant, which can reach at most 3 meters in height, which makes it very attractive to be used as an ornamental tree. In addition, its uniquely thick trunk gives it the peculiar appearance of a small tree, so it is very often used to be raised as bonsai.

On the other hand, its branches are proportionally much thinner than the trunk, have a peculiar grayish color and foliage generally not very abundant. The leaves are simple, oval in shape and have a hard consistency, they measure between 5 and 15 cm long and between 1 and 8 cm wide. Normally, they develop around the branches, in small groups arranged in a spiral shape.

Finally, a curious fact about the Desert Rose is that in Tanzania they used the sap distilled from this plant, which is highly toxic, to coat the tip of the arrows they used for hunting. Well, dear readers and nature lovers, it only remains for me to say goodbye, hoping that the images and information that I share with you about this beautiful plant have been to your liking. I especially hope that @bucipuci, @adalger and the whole team of @dna and @amazingnature like it, since it is my entry for this week's contest, in which, if you want to participate, you can access by clicking on the following link Amazing Nature Contest: FREE TOPIC - #4/8/23. Best wishes for well being and health to all, God Bless. See you next time.

We know this plant locally as the impala lily (Adenium multiflorum) looks like a miniature baobab tree. Very pretty flower, makes for a great bonsai plant.

I have one in the garden although I don't think it is totally suitable in our humid climate.

Hello welcome, Adenium multiflorum is a subspecies of Adenium obesum. I imagine that it must be a kind of hybrid that supports colder and more humid climates, because the obesum requires a warm and dry climate to develop well. A few years ago I had a plant in my garden, but it never bloomed and with time it dried up. I didn't know how to take care of it and it didn't get enough sun and I think I also watered it a lot. Now I know, that it is the perfect combination to lead this plant irretrievably to death. Grateful for your visit, I wish you an excellent week and many blessings for you and yours 🙏

Succulents of any variety I plant directly into the soil and leave for them to fend for themselves, they really don't need water, most do love the direct sun during some part of the day.

This photo was 2014 still establishing the plant in a pot before planting into the garden.

Impala lily is under awning of the roof, only driving rain enters the area or it gets some water from the air conditioning unit during the heat of Summer.
