Rivers of snow - Ranunculus peltatus

in WE ARE MOVING2 years ago

Ranunculus peltatus water flower 7.jpg

Somewhere in the south of Portugal, driving though hills and fields and small towns with narrow roads we got close to a tiny bridge.

Stop the car!

And there it was...
A lazy, shallow river covered in millions of tiny white flowers. Oh what a view!

Ranunculus peltatus

It was the first I saw this plant and in this amount. Beautiful tiny little flowers poking up from the water. They are not big. Probably around 2 cm across with the leaves about the same size. I could not get closer and I only had the macro lens with me, so no zooming either.
It was enough to admire them though.

They start to bloom around March and last until early summer. I wonder if this stearm dries up for the summer months and they completely die back too.

The water there flows really slow and it is not very deep. Perfect for all the water plants and frogs :)

They were everywhere! Clouds of white as far as I could look.

This is the other side of the bridge where the river was wider and with not so tall banks.

A cool 100 year old graphic, because there is never enough of those :)

And all that gorgeousness covering a shallow water full of brown goo :p

WOW!
It is impossible to pass by such beauty!
It is a great pleasure to look at such beauty!

Today I went to the lake, and there almost everything is scorched from the sun.
I'll show pictures later.

It looked amazing! I am almost sure this little river dries up in summer so all the little flowers are gone too.

You should check it out :-)

very nice , it looks a bit like anemone but then again they are both from the Ranunculaceae family so not that weird it looks like his uncle :)

Yea, the flowers have that shape. They are the size of the little wood ones.

Good heavens, what a beautiful thing to see a river like this!.... Bravo!... Beautiful post of beautiful plants!... Thankd for sharing @ewkaw friend!

Thanks! I loves it too :)

Very beautiful Photos. Thanks for sharing 🙏🙏

Thanks :)

What an amazing sight… I would have said the same. Stop the car hahaha 🤣
Beautiful… so much tiny flowers… wow what a find @ewkaw 🥰

I did not expect to it there so I was quite surprised myself :)

Very cool when you stumble upon things like this.
Happy new week @ewkaw 👋🏻😊

At first I tought it was a dried river covered with flower, but there's still water in it.
such a beautiful scenery and color, lovely colored flower

I thought it was some fluff or dust. The river is really shallow and they love it there :)

Wow ! I bet they really were beauful. SO many !

They were. And it was just a small part of the river. I can imagine there was a lot more of them.

Well at least they are pretty flowers. We have things covered in seeds from the Cottonwood trees. Car radiators, air conditioners, its crazy!

I hate that stuff. It' all over the place in spring here too and I suspect it is the main cause of my spring allergies.

It looks pretty though when it flies around. Like snow.
I like snow :)

A whole field of flowers. How beautiful it is! I'm sure it smells good too.

I was too far away to smell anything. But I enjoyed the view :)

Very beautiful sea of white flowers! Nature is amazing.

Thanks and it is :)

This is so beautiful... are they always found on water?
It feels like a fairy tale scene

I'd say so. That's where they grow.
There is plenty of other types that only grow in shallow pods and rivers.

Yay! 🤗

I have never seen so many beautiful flowers blooming in the water before. They really look like clouds on earth.

They do. I was amazed myself :)
