My flair for Botany

in WE ARE MOVING4 years ago

Today, I will walk you through the crops produced in my region
My community used to Farm a lot as a sustainable means of livelihood but due to developments, Farming declined and the quest for Jobs and other skills increased...

Mechanized farming would have been the fort of my community but the degrading porous soil might be unsuitable for advanced mechanical devices like Tractors, Ploughers, etc.

Notwithstanding my sermons, this is a Cocoyam plant. Cocoyam used to be a stable food during the civil war in the 70's as Yams, Cassava were quite costly then.

You get to see Palm trees scattered all over my community.
Palm trees are very unique plants with useful products and parts from the roots to the trunk.

There is a "Fan-like" leaf close to the ground.
That is a Cassava plant.
Cassavas are very common in my region as variety of food can be made from it such as;

Garri
Fufu
Tapioca

Cassava is a staple food now since even the poor can atleast afford it.
